This is either going to be really awesome or
One of the worst things in the history of existence.
If you have some acid laying around, take a few hits before you watch this video. I remember watching this cartoon as a kid and thinking it was weird as hell, but still awesome. The movie should be at least interesting.

My 3 year old saw the trailer for this at Horton Hears a Who
He is completely ballistic about it.
Me? Less so. At least the guy from Lost is in it, so I can see him and pretend I’m watching some really wierd flashbacks from Lost.

I vote
one of the worst things in the history of existence
I am getting more and more skeptical of superhero / cartoon / whatever tv-to-movie remakes that come out
That's Because Iron Man fucking owns everything

The new Hulk looks good. Re-doing it and with a new director

Also, I think I'm the only one I know who liked Spider-Man 3
That was definitely made for the fans of the comics, not the general public. You had to know the back story because 2 hours was not long enough to explain everything to the causal fan.

I'm a fan of the comics, but I really didn't like Spider-Man 3
Too much story, way too many fucking villains.

Agreed
Spider Man 3 should have been at least 2 movies. They wanted to wrap the franchise up with all the principal actors into one neat and tidy package, and a trilogy was all they were getting for that. So they stuffed 2 movies worth of story into one film.

Yeah, but at least the original Speed Racer was hilariously pointless,
and the movie seems to be pretty true to form.

Ever since I saw the first trailer
I thought that movie would suck ass, and I stand by that assumption.
This movie may suck
but at least we have something to look forward to down the line.
Spielberg got the rights to Ghost in the Shell.
This movie may will suck.
I really don’t like what they did with it. I enjoyed the cartoon as a kid, but making it all futuristic just looks stupid.
Speaking of poorly chosen remakes
I was walking through Queen Anne, passed a video store and saw this horrifying image:
But then there wouldn't be these:

That alone made the remakes worth it.
...and now I'm here
Speaking of current releases
I now understand why people don’t see movies in the theater as much. Seeing Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Harold and Kumar was extremely difficult considering people were there that either 1. were disgusted at 2/3 of the movie or 2. take their under 10 years old kids and leave 25 minutes in. 1 is more annoying.

We don't negotiate with terrorists.
I saw them both
I personally liked them both, but I am a fan of comedies, especially both the judd apatow series and the harold and kumar series. A little too much full frontal nudity, especially since I am a guy. But I think both were pretty clever, I thought the Harold and Kumar sequel could’ve been a whole lot worse. It was pretty good for a sequel. But I am sure most of the people seeing Harold and Kumar were the same type as me, college aged or mid 20s guy.
I enjoyed both as well.
I’m a sucker for these kinds of movies.

American Pie series was, and continues to be a classic
But I’m afraid for it to have that kind of impact, you’d have had to see it when you were around the age of the actors.
Apatow has made all my favorite comedies lately, though, and a couple more are due out pretty soon.
PIneapple Express looks completely hilarious
Saw a preview of it before Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was also fantastic.

You're a fan of the straight-to-DVDs?
I loved Naked Mile. Band Camp and Beta House were decent. I hope they can keep it up and become the next National Lampoon-style group… Low budget, recurring actors, lots of over the top humor.

I don't know
It just seems like the last two straight to video American Pies were just trying way to hard to show that whole college party scene with not much substance. Gets a little old. I very much enjoyed the first three, even though I think you have to be a little older to appreciate the third one as much as the first two.
I dunno
I think it looks ok. Then again, I’m a cinematography nerd and I can’t wait to see the new camera that they developed for this movie. It keeps everything in focus at all times, not just the foreground or background.

Speed Racer looks visually amazing
and its not like the cartoon was deep or great. I don’t see why people are getting so upset over this. It looks great visually and the source material is impossible to fuck up.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
How is it impossible to fuck up?
You can fuck it up pretty easily by taking it too seriously, and I can tell from the trailer they did. All that crap about racing being “the only thing I’m good at” is the exact opposite of what would make a Speed Racer movie entertaining. And it didn’t even look that amazing to me, the special effects look a little bit too cartoon-y.
If Speed Racer never once says
“I will try my best and WIN!” like he did in the cartoon, they’ve fucked it up.
If there’s no sonorous narrator saying “Racer X, who unbeknownst to Speed is his older brother Rex”, they’ve fucked it up.
Yeah, I’m pretty nervous about this movie.
