Open Cute Thread of Happy Things
The Mariners make me unhappy. So here are things that make me happy!!! Please feel free and contribute your own cute and happy things, so that we may not only brighten our lives with sunshine and flowers, we also improve the tone of this community which has certainly been a negative nelly of late.
Kitten Cups, of course:
Baby Hugs:
Coffee!!!
Ah, coffee. The feeling is mutual.
It is fun being positive. Hooray life!

Thats the D'back playoff game from last year, right?
I was like 10 feet from where that ball landed
NLDS Game 2.
That shot was just so fucking awesome for me on so many levels. Lots and lots of people(most famously Nate Silver of BP who was predicting a sweep) were picking the Cubs to destroy the DBacks. At DBBP, we had Cubs fans hounding us over and over how they were the team destined to win.
The Cubs lead just once the whole series. And it was just before this homer. Chris Young going deep off of Ted Lilly.
I was at work watching this game, and clocked off an inning before this. I didn’t want to miss any of it, so I just stayed at work and watched it at the bar. There happened to be two Cubs fans sitting there as well. And they gave me shit all game long. When Young connected, they reacted in much the same way as you see Lilly doing.
It was awesome.
Felix Hernandez may be The King, but Justin Upton is a GOD.
Happy things are included in the thread.

I worked at the Lake City Fred Meyer for 3 years.
...and now I'm here
I do not envy you.
Fred Meyer is one of the places where I try to be as nice as possible to the staff, no matter what kind of mood I’m in, because it seems like such a terrible job.

I've only been out for 2 years
but most of the people I worked with are gone now. Still, it was a mixture of both. The customers sucked, yes, but most of the employees deserved what they got. It wasn’t hard to be really, really good at cashiering (where I was) and a great deal of them decided to smurf it up anyway, giving them untold amounts of grief that could have easily been avoided.
...and now I'm here
I'm all for giving customers what they deserve.
It’s my favorite part of managing a retail store. Jerk-ass customers come to me looking for an ass kissing session and they get me being a total dick. Very cathartic.
But I have detected plenty of people at FM (and, obviously, any other retail establishment) that treat all customers like shit. Because I’ve worked customer service for so long I’ve put up with massive amounts of shit from customers, and yet still find a way to be nice to people unless they do something that merits my being an asshole. It drives me crazy when people can’t be civil for ten seconds. Providing decent customer service isn’t hard; just don’t be a jerk unless the customer is a jerk. That’s it.
But I’ve never worked somewhere like Fred Meyer, so it could be so terrible that every customer is someone driving the nail into the coffin of your servitude. So I try not to judge too harshly.

Yeah, well.
Fred Meyer taught me how to talk loudly to anyone. But/And you’re right, it is not that hard to be nice to everyone. In fact, there was a personal enjoyment I got out of being “nice” to smurfholes. They knew it was sarcastic, but I was really good at it at that point.
Still, it went both ways. Even the worst customers could almost always warm up without much work on my part. And those that didn’t got the disrespect they deserved. But it was never taken out on the next person.
...and now I'm here
By the way, I'm not trying to start and kill a meme at the same time.
But I don’t want to disrupt the positivity thread with any smurfy language.
...and now I'm here
I forgot about the request for no profanity in this thread.
And I fully supported it when it came into being. My apologies.
