Cincy changes GM

Krivsky fired... Jocketty in place.  So Cincy is the first to start rolling the dice on making changes.

I'm not really sure that Krivsky did anything all that horrible to be fired, though his moving of Josh Hamilton probably is up there.  But I guess this was considered a move that was inevitable since Jocketty was hired as a special assistant.  With the Reds off to a slow start it gave the owner "justification".

Krivsky was not good.

There was a reason he and Bavasi kept trying for the same players. At least he was smart enough to keep Jay Bruce.

...and now I'm here

ehh

I think the days of being able to trade spare parts for all-star to HOF quality players (Kile, Vina, Rolen, Edmonds, McGwire, Walker) are done. Jocketty’s track record over the last the few years is pretty spotty, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can adapt.

Jocketty had jack in the farm system

What was the last significant trade he made? Terry Evans for Jeff Weaver?

Witty .sig goes here.

Haren, Barton and Calero

for Mark Mulder.

Also, whose fault do you think it was that there wasn’t jack shit in the farm system? They had a couple of mega stars in Ankiel and Pujols (who was sort of a happy accident), and a few guys who were dealt off (crisp and Jack Wilson).

Sweet.

Get Walt on the phone, see if the names Jay Bruce or Homer Bailey come up… offer Miggy. This could work.

Trading Haren, Barton, and Calero was a bad trade, but St. Louis won the World Series between then and now.

If we had won a World Series after the Slocumb trade, we would not look down on it so badly. The same can be said of the recent Bedard trade. Let’s hope we pull this off within the next 2 years (2008, 2009).

Yeah but the championship was dumb luck.

You could argue that the teams from 2000-2005 were so damn good they probably should have won one, but the 2006 championship doesn’t change the fact that there’s a good Chance Jocketty’s shit doesn’t work anymore.
