11-10
I'm throwing this up now, because there's a scheduled network outage coming up in a little bit and I'm not sure if I'll be awake when everything returns.
Needless to say, a certain someone is back. And the only thing keeping me from adding "-and better than ever" is the fact that it's not really possible for this certain someone to improve.

Holy Fuck
Seeing JJ return unchanged gives me so much hope for this team, it’s a great feeling.

A Family Guy reference
not exactly well executed, but I give you points for effort.
Putz WOOOOO!
Felix Hernandez may be The King, but Justin Upton is a GOD.

I'm going to Thursday's game.
Wash is starting. Ugh. I was hoping for Dickey.
But there’s the possibility of a JJ sighting. Yay!
There's a possibility Bedard will start that game
If he doesn’t suffer a setback, so all is not lost.
I thought he was set for Saturday?

Eh, maybe I'm misinformed.
But Ihis morning the most optimistic reports had him back on Thursday, that could’ve changed since then.
I imagine they'd put off his start
to get him slotted right before Felix again.
Lowe was hiding in Putz's locker during a postgame interview with the media.
Putz was certain someone was going to come in and pie him when he sat down, so he told the interviewers to “form a wall” around him.
However about thirty seconds into the interview Lowe bursts out from Putz’s locker and pies him. No one saw him in there.
Thats so awesome
I hope someone somewhere puts up a video of this
that
is
fucking
funny.
so funny i required 4 lines. uh…5 lines.

Make a guy walk around with a pretty pink backpack
And you sew the seeds of your own doom.
Hard work never killed nobody, but I won't take my chances.
Nothing lifts the spirits
quite like JJ closing out a game Felix started. Well, except for beer. But they work well in tandem.
I still like Valle more than Blowers
I can’t be the only one…..Blowers is so fucking depressing to listen to.
Valle is much more personable
Blowers is much less super uber duper positive, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
I'm really not a fan of either.
However I will say Blowers doesn’t add a whole lot to the broadcast. Sims has to prod him into most conversations.
I don't think any of the announcers
really add anything to the game for the advanced fans. What could they bring that most of us don’t already know…. most of it is just static noise in my opinion, especially for a tv broadcast.
I’d actually prefer if there were no announcers and you just got an audio feed of the stadium announcer and fan noise.

They don't add much in the way of new knowledge/insight
but I definitely think a guy like Sims adds a fun bit of enthusiasm. They’re not entirely without value.

Yeah, a play by play guy like Sims or Niehaus
is nice to have around. A dumb/dull color guy like Red, Valle, or Blowers is most definitely not.
Mariners need
more Mark Grace. He and Daron Sutton here in AZ are entertaining and informative and will even bust out some stats from time to time.
Fairly was at his best at the end
His last series in 06, he basically just went off about everything.
I poked a lot of fun at Fairly for his penchant for stating the blinding obvious
but he was a lot easier to ignore than Blowers, Kreuger, Valle, etc.
I thought he engaged Dave pretty well
Blowers basically has no interest in history any of Dave’s stories—and dammit—I don’t care if it makes me sound 100 years old, I like the occasional old timey baseball story.
Fairly wasn’t awesome but he was miles ahead of all these ex-Mariners they’ve been running through the last few years.
for a radio broadcast definitely
not for TV, most of the time they’re talking over the important action about nonsense…. or getting over excited about something that is not actually an exciting play…

I'm definitely a bit of a minimalist when it comes to broadcasters
but I’m just a sucker for (sincere) exuberance. Matt Vasgersian screeching “SANTA MARIA!!” gets me every time.

when it's a huge play for your side
I love to have somebody getting loud. That’s why Gus Johnson is awesome. Or ask yourself this: ‘95. ALDS Game 5. The Double. Do you want:
-Niehaus’ call
-Crowd noise
I think that’s an easy one. Crowd noise is awesome, but for the rest of my life, whenever I hear Dave’s call on that play, my skin will prickle.
Now, that’s one angle, the dramatic winning plays. That’s when I love having enthusiastic announcers. Another angle, and one that doesn’t come up in baseball, is when the game’s in the bag for your team and they’re just running out the clock, perhaps on a game seven and the crowd is going wild. I’d prefer the announcers just shut up and let you soak in the crowd. Case in point, game 7 BOS @ MTL. That last minute when the crowd was roaring I’d really like it if CBC’s crew would shut their yaps and just let you hear the crowd.
also, though I don't have a vivid memory of it (thanks CBS, jackasses)
last minute of NFC Championship CAR @ SEA. Shut up and let Qwest Field do the announcing.
I prefer crowd noise, but only because that means I was there.
The Niehaus call of ‘95 means much less to me than it does for people who were not at the game. What I remember was me yelling yes over and over.
The user formerly known as Sec 108.
On the Fox broadcast of that game
They don’t say a single thing for the last minute. They actually did a really good job of capturing the emotion there.
They were really sad for the Yankees
Thank God I had the sense to mute the tv and turn on the radio.
That goes along with the picture of Kenji on his knee seranading to the ump.

Nice to know the broadcast crew
are giving Red some love.
If Red's not in the next set of M's commercials, it's a flippin' travesty!

No kidding.
And thanks to the awesomeness of LL—GS52’s family friend asked if I knew where Red was going to sit. When Red debuted the sign during the game, he pointed Red and his sign. He’s evidently a regular reader, and knew who I was right away when I introduced myself while waiting in the player’s will-call line.
I don’t know how anything could top the awesomeness of this game for me…
