Putz question

Putz (rib inflammation) may be activated as soon as Tuesday after pitching in a simulated game on Saturday, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.

Anybody have an update on how his simulated game went?  My boss has a few M's on his fantasy team so he's always coming to me for info.  Figured I'd try to give him something so I can get some brownie points and possibly a day or two off.  Any sort of update is appreciated.

All I know is

He threw 41 pitches in the simulated game, and said he “felt good” afterwards, so I’m guessing it went pretty well.

Didn't you hear?

They’re stretching him out and will have him start in Bedard’s spot in the rotation.

I would really hope this means Bedard is doing well.

Dickey really doesn’t profile a a good relief guy. You don’t want him throwing a knuckler with a guy on third in a tie game.

I like midgets more than I should.

Why are they stupid

for sending Dickey down at this point? They still have Baek to spot start and they would have had to expose him to waivers if they did try and send him down, not the case with Dickey.

The interesting move

is going to be the next one when Bedard comes off….. its probably going to be between Morrow, Lowe, and Corcoran.

I'd rather see Morrow back down at this point

given that he hasn’t looked terribly sharp so far.

But yeah, I was thinking of Dickey > Baek, but then I remembered Baek is out of options

Dickey is not a special player

Why he’s considered so important is beyond me.

Knuckleballers are rare enough

that they’re all considered “important”, whether they are or not (and they’re usually not). It’s like the holy grail – a near-unhittable pitch – and any team that gets close to developing or acquiring a guy that can throw one starts drooling over the possibilities inherent in the pitch/pitcher, and that spreads to the media and the fan base.

Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.

Go back and watch the archive of Dickey's start

Hunter’s swings on the knuckler (not the fastball, dammit Kenji!), are why people love to see knuckleballers around.
