Update on Bedard
From Baker:
What McLaren confirmed was that Bedard had an MRI and that there was inflammation found. McLaren wouldn't say what was causing the inflammation. Said he doesn't know. I asked him again if it was caused by a labrum problem and he said he didn't know.
If the Mariners feel THT is out to lunch, all they have to do is say there is no labrum issue. By not simply denying it flat-out, they are keeping this thing going longer than it has to.

Would an Injury Like This Be Apparent Before the Physical?

He injured it on opening day.
Nothing that could’ve been caught by the physical.

Did you hear we're gonna treat Bedard's hip with Brent Lillibridge?
... wait

Think you misheard the press conference
we’re going to FLIP Bedard’s hip for Brent Lillibridge, not TREAT Bedard’s hip with him

Flip his hip?
No wonder he’s hurt. Good lord.

Lillibridge would look pretty stupid sticking out of Bedard's hip.

Just wait 'til the cyanide capsule we implanted in Jones kicks in
THEN we’ll see who’s regretting this trade, muwahahaha!

For not knowing that Bedard would get hurt?

I think its the questionable trade to begin with
you know..the ‘win now’ attitude, but you trade away your best left-handed bullpen guy…
And then when Bedard has the degenerative-hip….or whatever he has…and he can’t be relied on..it just makes the trade look worse. we all knew it was bad, but this only brings those on the fence over to our point of view.
As you know..every injury is Bavasi’s fault too.
I fucking hate you Mariners

I think it is just a trained response.
I found myself cursing Woody Woodward when I heard Bedard was hurt.

Fucking Woody Woodward
and stupid parents who made my DOB 7.31.85. The Cruz and Randy trades nearly killed me.

LMFAO!!!
Jeez. I hated that guy. But, really, here’s a subject for debate—who’s a worse GM: Woodward or Bavasi?

Has Bavasi drafted his own son yet?
No? Well the Woody is worse then.

Didn't Bavasi draft Hargrove's son in the 651498735th round?
by Jed MC on Apr 21, 2008 2:26 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Doesn't count.
You have to draft your own children to be truly lame. Drafting the child of your manager is just good office politics.

Somewhat optimistic news
“LHP Erik Bedard, on the disabled list with left hip inflammation, threw off a mound Saturday and is due to throw off a mound again Tuesday in Seattle. If all goes as planned, he could be off the disabled list as early as Thursday. For the moment, however, knuckleballing RHP R.A. Dickey is still scheduled to start Thursday’s game against the Orioles, Bedard’s old team.”
