Honestly, you guys think that ball was out?
I’m on the fence (though it would have scored Beltre anyway).

I think it hits the top of the wall
...if it gets past the fielder’s glove. I’m thinking many of the league’s CFs can catch that with a jump.
I was bummed just as much that it was 2 feet from being gone as I was that Hunter caught it.

It looked like it would've juuuust hit the top of the wall
But it wasn’t gone enough to be a hard catch or anything, I was just bummed that it didn’t go a foot or two farther.

Sexson's ball was over the top of the wall.
The Angels website has a close-up video of the catch in the Video Corner, “Hunter robs Sexson of go ahead HR in the ninth.” It clearly shows the ball going over the top of the wall and Hunter’s glove above the top edge when the ball was caught. It also catches Sexson’s reaction afterwards.

No
What you need to do is just sit in the center field bleachers. Then, when Torii Hunter tries to ruin everyone’s lives, you just whip out your dick and start peeing on him. Lets see him catch a fly ball while taking a golden shower.
Fuck Torii Hunter.

I’m sure OlSalty and joof aren’t 100% serious but I still think shitting and pissing on someone seems excessive. Are we going to become Mexican soccer hooligans* next and start bringing bags of piss to the games?

The bad thing about watching the game archived
is that I still have 11 hours of work to go. I already freaked my boss out with my twenty minute long diatribe on how much I F’ing loathe those douchebag Angels. I am in such a shitty mood right now. Washburn better hit someone tomorrow.

he was kjust taking back the two runs Beltre stole from him. Its sad because richie was hitting the ball well, but this d=team did not deserve a win.

Being at the game..
and surrounded by thousands of Angels fans going nuts was like a double cock punch. From our view it didnt look like it would have been out but god damn that was one of the worst feelings ive had after a game. My gf and I were pissed that Sexson didn’t just let us down easily with his usual clutch strike out.

So Dickey was upset about the fastball
Baker’s blog has some stuff on that…
Dickey was particularly upset with himself for not shaking off Kenji Johjima’s demand for a fastball with the bases loaded, one out and a 1-2 count on Hunter with the game scoreless in the first.“In that situation, getting the swings and misses like I was and throwing a pretty good knuckleball from the get-go, I should have just stuck with it,’’ Dickey said. “But hindsight’s always 20-20, I learned from it. It’s kind of the learning curve of this thing. You try not to make the same mistakes twice.’‘

So to starters question Kenji's game calling in about a week.
At least Dickey maned up and said it was his fault for not shaking him off, but Kenji is still troubling me right now.

Yes
I cringe every time a ball that should have easily been caught goes bouncing out of his glove. He dropped more than one called strike last night and …yeah…knuckleballs are weird but he does this with everybody. I wonder though how much of the game he really calls. I see him looking over to the dugout a lot.

typically
the dugout doesn’t call pitches….. they call out defensive plays, pickoffs, and pitchouts… most major league teams leave the actual pitch calling to the catchers and pitchers in the game.

Kenji is just the wrong guy to be catching Dickey
We know about his habit of stabbing at pitches, which is exactly what you DON’T want to do with a knuckleball. If you stab at it, it’ll change direction and bounce or float by you. You’re supposed to keep the glove back, move it laterally and block the ball into your glove, like you’re playing Pong. Asking Kenji to catch the knuckler is like asking Matt Stairs and Frank Thomas to try a double steal.
