4/18: Open Game Thread
Seattle Mariners @ Los Angeles Angels
The world could stand to learn a lesson from RA Dickey. If you're bad at something, add a gimmick. Can't pitch? Throw a knuckleball. Can't sing? Go by one name. Ugly? Wear a hat. It'll make you more interesting, and even in the worst-case scenario where you're still a pile of suck, at least people will have something to talk about other than how bad you are at things. By no means is Dickey a great pitcher or a master of his craft, but given a choice between a plank of wood and a plank of wood with a corner of shiny paint, I'll take the plank of wood with a corner of shiny paint eight days a week. No contest.
LET'S GO MARINERS!!

Todd Jones was his closer with Joel Zumay on the roster.
He bat Curtis Granderson leadoff vs. LHP every day.

Theres some funny quotes… but
“Trying to hit Phil Niekro is like trying to eat Jell-O with chopsticks”. ― All-star outfielder Bobby Murcer
“You know, catching the knuckleball, it’s like trying to catch a fly with a chopstick.” ― catcher Jason Varitek

I just went to Napoli's BR to see exactly how much hyperbole/parody was contained in that statmement
and whoever sponsored the page put up this quote…
Mike Napoli is the Martin Scorsese of the Los Angeles Angels pitching staff. John Lackey is Robert DeNiro. Jered Weaver is Brad Pitt. And Howie Kendrick is Howie Kendrick.
Can anyone explain this to me?
