Remember when there was talk of us

signing Delgado and playing Sexson in LF?

At least that didn't happen

by Corco on Apr 13, 2008 2:04 PM PDT reply actions

Jesus Christ

there was a point in time where a much younger me was all over that idea.

by BrianL on Apr 13, 2008 2:05 PM PDT up reply actions

I was dubious about it

but at the time I wouldn't have been up in arms if it would have happened

by Corco on Apr 13, 2008 2:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Holy crap

I can't remember the last time a pitchout actually worked.

by Jeff Sullivan on Apr 13, 2008 2:14 PM PDT reply actions

Looked scary off the bat

Thank God we have Morse out there though!!!

by seattlesundevil on Apr 13, 2008 2:20 PM PDT reply actions

That

was...not a strike.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:22 PM PDT reply actions

Cabrera

Wizard of the OC, not missing that guy.

by marinator on Apr 13, 2008 2:23 PM PDT reply actions

Richie's slide

reminded me of Willie Mays Hayes.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:25 PM PDT reply actions

Come on Mike Morse!

Reach base so next inning won't be Cairo-Burke-Yuni

by seattlebruin on Apr 13, 2008 2:25 PM PDT reply actions

Cairo starting

elves everywhere celebrate

by Nick S on Apr 13, 2008 2:28 PM PDT reply actions

Damn you HGH

He tried to suck there, but then thought better of it

by OlSalty on Apr 13, 2008 2:28 PM PDT reply actions

Richie

flirting with Chone.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:32 PM PDT reply actions

I would like to see a offsping with

Richie's power and tallness, with Figgins' ability to make contact, run, play not horrible defense and name spelling skills.

Free Barry Bonds

Minor League Wrap-Up is posted below this Part 2 Game Thread

I have found that staying away from Mariner games on bad Mariner days has helped me, so I'll do that for now.

by Gomez on Apr 13, 2008 2:34 PM PDT reply actions

Walk him!

Hey, fucking genius idea.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:37 PM PDT reply actions

Uh, what?

He can't be done, can he?

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:38 PM PDT reply actions

That's about what I expected..

Some post in the first game thread sayin 4 or 5 innings - he hasnt thrown much and cannot possibly be stretched out enough to go deep in the game. That being said, He still looked like he had something left - but oh well

by seattlesundevil on Apr 13, 2008 2:40 PM PDT up reply actions

So...do I watch Potatoes blow this or do I play Super Metroid instead?

I've gotten to the point where I can do a perfect 100% item game in 1h20m.

by esoteric on Apr 13, 2008 2:40 PM PDT reply actions

Blow it open, I suppose.

Good point.

But really, I just want to talk about how great Super Metroid still is.

by esoteric on Apr 13, 2008 2:41 PM PDT up reply actions

McLaren is my hero

I never thought such dumbasses could one day end up being so succesful, even if it is merely in title alone.

by cwel87 on Apr 13, 2008 2:40 PM PDT reply actions

Potatoes

Doesn't have the right mental makeup to pitch in the 5th with runners on first and second and two out.

This is a bad move.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:41 PM PDT reply actions

Not a bad play by Cairo

But Beltre makes that with time to spare.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:41 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah

Mike Morse is way better than Brad WIlkerson

by Matthew on Apr 13, 2008 2:43 PM PDT reply actions

Oh wow

That was beauty in motion.

by Smegmalicious on Apr 13, 2008 2:43 PM PDT reply actions

so yeah, this game is over.

and EOF is going to get the blame for things not his fault. Ditto Baek.

by Matthew on Apr 13, 2008 2:44 PM PDT reply actions

K

I just talk to my friends who don't read on blogs, and all of them seem convinced O;'Flaherty sucks based on his unfortunate outings in baltimore.

by Fin on Apr 13, 2008 2:49 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm not too worried

This one guy is the same guy who thinks that they should call up arthur rhodes, so I would easily not take what he has to say to heart.

by Fin on Apr 13, 2008 2:52 PM PDT up reply actions

Hopefully just the casual fans.

Without a doubt he's struggling right now, but innings like this? He did what he was asked and got boned by the defense twice in a row.

by esoteric on Apr 13, 2008 2:49 PM PDT up reply actions

whew

that was close.

ok boys let's learn to hit.

by phil333 on Apr 13, 2008 2:47 PM PDT reply actions

True

I mean, Morse blew it, but it's hard to win with 0 runs.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:49 PM PDT up reply actions

That's what I was wondering too

I can see both sides of the argument I guess

by seattlesundevil on Apr 13, 2008 2:50 PM PDT up reply actions

You could argue that if we had Wilk out there

it would be 0-0, although I don't know if he catches either of the balls Morse missed...

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 2:52 PM PDT up reply actions

Uhh, he easily catches the second one

The first is debatable, but no starting OF in the league fucks up that second play like Morse did.

by OlSalty on Apr 13, 2008 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah i missed the live play

all I saw was a replay of Morse getting turned around like an idiot

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 2:54 PM PDT up reply actions

I imagine Beltre might have played

But Burkes pretty standard for a sunday afternoon game, and Morse is who they're going to against lefties...

by thenatural on Apr 13, 2008 2:52 PM PDT up reply actions

I was gonna ask about that

He seems to be throwing an inordinate amount of balls to be having such a good (on the face) game

by seattlesundevil on Apr 13, 2008 2:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Some of us idiots...

need to come to our own conclusions and accept that Mike Morse is good.

Above average at playing the defense even.

by PLU Tim on Apr 13, 2008 2:56 PM PDT reply actions

you jinxed him! you ass

http://seattlesportsmaniac.blogspot.com

by LantermanC on Apr 13, 2008 2:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Morse is useful

I'm confused at those who give him the Bloomquist treatment.

by Gomez on Apr 13, 2008 2:57 PM PDT up reply actions

This would make Tim wrong as well

I'm guessing you went after me instead of him because you consider me an easier target.

by Gomez on Apr 13, 2008 3:00 PM PDT up reply actions

I thought that was gone as well

Sidenote: i was in the wrong thread for the last3 inning or so, stupid me

there ya go

Morse to the DL

Call up Wlad

by MfaninAlaska on Apr 13, 2008 2:57 PM PDT reply actions

Wow Morse is bad.

This is why Ichiro doesn't dive. You get there faster running anyway.

Raul almost lost thatone, haha

Our outfield defense

Is as awesome as our offense.

HAHAHA

The worst outfielders

Midnight Baseball - No Lights - Only in Alaska!

Yeah

He's just a fishwrap blogger, not a demigod of any sort.

by Gomez on Apr 13, 2008 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Hate to break it to you, but

O'Flaherty hasn't been that sharp either. It's a combination of bad pitching and shitty defense that has sunk him.

by redwolf75 on Apr 13, 2008 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Hunger strike

Until Wlad is called up.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 2:59 PM PDT reply actions

I never understood that

Why there is an NHL team in south florida and not seattle.

by Fin on Apr 13, 2008 2:59 PM PDT reply actions

2 in Florida for some reason

nobody gives a shit about the Panthers anyway

by Nick S on Apr 13, 2008 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions

This game has sucked, but I have a small sliver of hope

that this will somehow make Mac and Co. realize that Morse should not play the outfield.

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 3:00 PM PDT reply actions

I think its possible

The ball has really found him out there today, highlighting his craptastic defense. But yeah, Mac probably can't even see past the infield so not like he noticed

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions

C'mon people, it's not Morse's fault.

This is wholly Squinty McClusterfuck's fault for playing him.

Also, why the fuck do people want Wlad called up? The man needs a regular job to work out the chinks in his game. Sitting his ass on the bench in Seattle won't help him much at all.

by redwolf75 on Apr 13, 2008 3:00 PM PDT reply actions

God

This defense makes me want to find my leftover vicoden and use a bottle of vodka to wash them down.

by joof on Apr 13, 2008 3:01 PM PDT reply actions

Lincecum pulled

6 IP, 1 BB, 11 K

And I'm done with this game.

by Fett42 on Apr 13, 2008 3:01 PM PDT reply actions

To think...

the M's could have him AND Adam Jones.....

by PLU Tim on Apr 13, 2008 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions

They boo failure

If they're gonna boo Richie when he doesn't perform, they're gonna boo the pitcher if he doesn't perform, no matter who it is.

by Gomez on Apr 13, 2008 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Okay, Potatoes really HAS lost it right now.

There's no excuse for not letting Gary Matthews get himself out.

by esoteric on Apr 13, 2008 3:03 PM PDT reply actions

That wasn't Potatoes' fault either

Someone should have been playing behind the bag, clearly.

by Garces on Apr 13, 2008 3:04 PM PDT reply actions

Honestly

I don't want to sound like I'm defending EOF with every breath, but that was just a groundball. As meltdowns go, this is a pretty unlucky one for him.

by Jeff Sullivan on Apr 13, 2008 3:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Whatever happened to the Hargrove decision tracker?

There would be so much more material for the McLaren equivalent

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 3:08 PM PDT reply actions

Great outing!

O'Flaherty lowered his ERA one WHOLE point!

by redwolf75 on Apr 13, 2008 3:09 PM PDT reply actions

Loafy!

Now I remember.

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on Apr 13, 2008 3:11 PM PDT reply actions

Somehow

if Richie homered here, a 7-2 deficit would seem more depressingly insurmountable than 7-0.

BB

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on Apr 13, 2008 3:13 PM PDT reply actions

Joe Saunders isn't good

it'll be awesome when baseball realizes this.

by Jeff Sullivan on Apr 13, 2008 3:14 PM PDT reply actions

JoVi...

Get on this.

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on Apr 13, 2008 3:15 PM PDT reply actions

dammit slopez

i woulda made it home...

http://seattlesportsmaniac.blogspot.com

by LantermanC on Apr 13, 2008 3:15 PM PDT reply actions

Huh...

I hate it when this team gets my hopes up.

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on Apr 13, 2008 3:16 PM PDT reply actions

I hate to be optimistic

But...we just broke into the Angels bullpen.

This thing is a flying piece of melted shit.

We aren't COMPLETELY dead yet

by cwel87 on Apr 13, 2008 3:18 PM PDT reply actions

you forget

its facing the mariner offense

Midnight Baseball - No Lights - Only in Alaska!

by MfaninAlaska on Apr 13, 2008 3:19 PM PDT up reply actions

good job Saunders

that's what you get for walking 3, striking out 1 and throwing a 1:1 strike to ball ratio.

Bradtastic!!

by MFAN on Apr 13, 2008 3:19 PM PDT reply actions

Hmm

Cairo looks like Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan.

by joof on Apr 13, 2008 3:20 PM PDT reply actions

Thats what I was thinking

Mac is saving him though, apparently

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 3:21 PM PDT up reply actions

wh's cairo batting still?

by LantermanC on Apr 13, 2008 3:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Could the Angels bullpen be bad enough to blow a 5 run lead?

Possibly, on a day when Morse and Cairo weren't in the lineup.

by OlSalty on Apr 13, 2008 3:26 PM PDT reply actions

Norton in right??

just when you think the Defense can't get any worse....

Bradtastic!!

by MFAN on Apr 13, 2008 3:27 PM PDT reply actions

Is Norton worse than Morse?

I didn't think that was possible

by ack on Apr 13, 2008 3:29 PM PDT up reply actions

This game's already been punted.

A win here would've been gravy.

Ohh....Kendrick's down again.
