Personalization
As I made recent note of, I recently purchased a Mariners road jersey, complete with the awesome 30th anniversary patch, since I really don't care about my jersey being 100% current. It came blank. I would like to personalize it.
My first choice is Rowland-Smith, but I'm not sure I want to because a. he is rarely used b. I don't know if I get charged by character and c. I would be disappointed if he left. To elaborate on point c, my last few jerseys have included Rashard Lewis (Sonics) and Darrell Jackson (Seahawks). They were with other teams soon after. I don't want to have another curse, a la Jeff's eBay baseball cards. However, my main reasons for choosing Rowland-Smith are his awesomeness, stemming from his Australianity and his goggle, and the fact that it's a jersey that a relatively small number of people.
My question for you is whether it is worth getting his name or should I go with a more safe choice like Beltre or Felix? Or is this DiAry a waste of time?

Two things:
First, we refer to him as "Hyphen" which is much shorter and awesome.
Second, he's probably going to be traded for having a bad attitude, as he'd make a great starter elsewhere and there is no way he is going to be starting here.
...and now I'm here
So, to conclude:
Yes, Rowland Smith.
...and now I'm here
I'm aware but I'd want the real name
For some reason, I'd never want a non-real name on the back of my jersey

Oh... Huh...
Well... RRS?
No, then I wouldn't go with Rowland-Smith. Too long. You can do "Jones" to be ironic.
...and now I'm here
My buddy (big 'hawks fan) bought a Cowboys #9 jersey
and got the customized name "Homo" on the back.. while we are on the topic of back of jersey choices.

Smith-Rowland
If anyone says anything about it, give them a dollar for being astute Mariners fans.

Get a jersey that says #1 Fan on it
That way everyone will know that you are the Mariners #1 fan!

Except they'll be wrong
because I AM THE MARINERS #1 FAN!

A blog-thingy about the Mariners and stuff.
Nostalgia is death for sports jerseys
because it leads people to buy Joey Cora jerseys in 2008, which is just unnecessary.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
This is exactly why my Seahawk jersey is a #12 Fan
A Felix jersey is probably the safest to be relevant for several years.

I never liked the "fan" jerseys though. They just don't spark the same nostalgia with me.
I have a bunch of old jerseys. and I don't care if the player is still with the team or not. To me that's half the fun.
That being said, I don't think I'll run out and get a Jose Mesa or Rick White jersey.
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
Yes, nostalgia has this annoying tendency to only apply when you have a retro jersey of someone who was good
and preferably didn't beat their wife either

I know!
You should get this: "is fucking the man". 29% of voters agree with me (good luck getting the team store to put it on there for you though).
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
