Don't Streak My Pitch!

Cricket pitch, that is.  You may have seen this already, but a streaker gets flattened by cricketer Andrew "Roy" Symonds during an Australia/India match.  I guarantee you that the nudie still is feeling it.

I wikied Roy and it now appears that cricket has gotten all statty itself.  There is also an interesting bit about cricket discipline, and how some cricketers pled down to a "Level 2.8 Offense".  I love a sport that has decimalized discipline.

Cricket.  Who knew?

I started following Cricket
the year I lived in India. It's a great sport. But I never got to actually play it. Every now and then I see people playing it at the park and I'm tempted to ask them if I can go join in.

The last one-day international I went to
allowed drinking until the very end of the game.  none of this 8th inning crap.  And you could get five beers for £5.  So, "better" is in the liver of the beholder, I guess.

I still prefer baseball, but cricket's a fun sport to go see.

That's why I go to one-day internationals
my best friend's dad was a county cricketer (Notts) and keeps trying to tell me that those marathon games are fun.  As much as I like my beer in the sun, I don't really agree - one day is all I need.

I tried pretty hard to get into cricket
about 2 years ago when I lived with a bunch of Indians. Didn't catch on.

Ah yes.
I tried to play cricket once.  I got bowled out by a 9 year old.  I then stopped playing cricket.

This is not substantially different than my level of baseball expertise.

I played once.
The ball is very hard.

I did not play again.

I used to love cricket
It is a very similar game to baseball, however once I got really into baseball my love for cricket started to wane.  This also coincided with the England victory in the ashes series over the hated Australian vermin.
And to think, I could have chosen to support the Yankees or Red Sox...

Cricket is an interesting game
The accumulative scoring format and the longer matchups between batter and bowler can intrigue.

LOTS of weird terminology, though, that's tough for yankees like me to follow.  I'll read a media recap of a cricket match and be baffled by half the text.

I know nothing about Cricket
But from what little I watched when I was in India, it seems like there's much less fielding going on than in baseball.  The number of balls in play for fielders to get is far smaller, and I very rarely saw the athletic feats that you see nearly every inning in a game of baseball.  In the games I saw, the fielders all wore big floppy hats, for crying out loud!
