Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals, Mar 30, 2008 5:05 PM PDT

Atl_medium Was_medium

Here's a fun game I was playing with someone last Friday. Without cheating, name as many current Washington Nationals pitchers as you can.

Teixeira '09.

Thank goodness for fantasy baseball.

Lannan
Bergmann
Hill (albeit injured)
Loaiza

Those are my best guesses.

I look at it.

I don't own any of them....

well, I picked up Hill a week ago to keep as a DL spot. He is good enough he might produce when healthy.

Oh, plus you need to know everyone's closers.

So I'm stumped. Do they still have Fruto?

Hmmm

Can anyone explain why I'm seeing this whenever I try to access mlbtv?

It even does that when I try to get into gameday audio.

by Graham MacAree on Mar 30, 2008 4:48 PM PDT reply actions

That's been happening to me too

Usually only when watching games live. I have no idea why. It doesn't seem to be a blackout thing. I sent them an email but they never replied. Just another in a long series of retarded mlb.com bugs I think.

by chaney on Mar 30, 2008 5:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Well, trygoing to

MLB.com, go to 'Audio and Video' and click on Multimedia guide, then click on the live broadcast for the game. When I do that the log in screen comes up just fine. Unfortunately the national blackout keeps me from seeing what happens past that point, but it should work.

Well

what a nice park. I was in DC a few years ago and went to a Nats game at RFK. Not only was it a POS, but I was wearing my Ducks cap and some guy started shouting outside the Metro about Oregonians being racist and he wanted to fight me.

I hauled ass to the stadium as fast as I could.

Anyway, this stadium looked nice and a refreshing difference from the 'retro' craze.

Oh, and that game I went to a few years back, Zimmerman hit a walk off against Wang. I've liked him ever since.

Yeah well so's your face

This whole thing worked like a charm once you were already in the thread. So the slow loading time looks like it'll only be a one-time problem (if you're late).

The new auto-refresh comment notice does give MLB.tv a little hiccup every 20 seconds, but it's not horrible. Just a heads-up.

by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 30, 2008 9:16 PM PDT up reply actions

We're making some more tweaks

in prep for all the Opening Day games tomorrow, so we're hoping it'll be even faster. And if we've figured right it ought to solve the MLB.tv hiccup.

Really, it's great to see that y'all were able to enjoy yourselves and keep communicating throughout the game without much trouble.

I'm one of four guys who built SB Nation 2.0. We are like the Borg, but friendly.

by Ryan Gantz on Mar 30, 2008 9:28 PM PDT up reply actions

For the record

this thread currently has a 14-second complete loading time for me. That's not too bad, and if you're in the thread from the start, you don't even have to deal with it at all. If you can fix that little glitch with MLB.tv, then that's just gravy.

The site performance over the last few days has really assuaged my initial fears. Good on you guys. I'm more than pleased.

by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 30, 2008 9:33 PM PDT up reply actions

We need to do better than that

FireFox 2 is unusually slow at this sort of thing for some reason, so we've taken it up as a challenge. Safari manages to load this page in roughly 9 seconds for me.

FF3beta is even faster (so the future looks bright) but we're determined to make things quicker in FF2, IE6, IE7 and Opera.

by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 30, 2008 9:45 PM PDT up reply actions

My only real complaint at this point is the fact that comments stop threading at a certain point.

It would be awesome if this were fixed before the game.

But besides that, I gotta agree with Jeff, it's handling things much better than expected so far.

Also, I just noticed that you guys have added a post button, allowing us to skip the preview. Awesome! You guys rock.
