Around SBN: Devils Beat Rangers, Head To Stanley Cup Finals

March 30: Opening Day Eve Event

Alright, this is going to happen. It will be held in downtown Seattle at my place. We have a lounge area with a big screen TV, room for enough people, a kitchen and a patio area with a grill. The address is [no longer needed] and being Sunday, there will be free street parking of which there is an abundance of along [your mom] There are also plenty of paid lots if you choose to be dumb.

If you want to attend: I'll ask you to RSVP here in this thread. It's a controlled entry so don't think you can just show up without warning. Also, I own several firearms and was trained in martial arts by Chuck Norris.

I will also ask you to bring something. Beer, liquor, food, paper plates, something. And please list that here as well so we can avoid 10 people bringing chips and no one bringing salsa. Again note that there is a grill handy so burger patties, brats, hot dogs, steaks, BBQ chicken, tofu-based products whatever. Bring stuff you want to consume and we'll all end up happy.

The area is ours (read: mine) from 3-midnight. First pitch for the Braves-Nationals is 5:05pm.

Also
I will bring Pyramid Hefeweizen and Bombay Gin unless there are rampant objections.

I have received so many good suggestions
for restaurants and beer that I've wanted to meet and repay you all for. I'll bring a jug of Dead Guy. Maybe two if there's a lack of people who bring beer.

I'm there
Would people maybe want some dessert type stuff? I could bring cookies or whatever?  Or beer.  Beer is good.

Obviously beer's my first idea for what to bring, but it's looking like that's going to be covered. Chips, dip, and pizza sound good?

In.
I'll bring some beer and maybe some burger or something.

I will do my best to be there.
My guess is I will be arriving after 6pm with a good buzz already going.

I will bring some beers because you can never have enough beer.  I may have to bring some real food too.  Maybe a casserole or some fried rice.

by Sec 108 on Mar 16, 2008 5:25 AM PDT reply actions

I am definitely in.

I will be there around 6PM.

So I may be packing one ticket for face value of $22.

Man, this might be worth the drive.
It's tough because it's a Sunday. Put me down +1 for a maybe.

at the game, if that counts.

Sounds like a blast!
Thanks for volunteering to host and pulling it all together, Matt.

Given that I live on the Eastside and it's a Sunday I'll also have to sign up as a tentative yes, but I will definitely do my best to be there. If I can make it out, I'll bring peanuts and cracker jacks. Some beer or soda as well, depending on what I'm in the mood for.

Cheers, bitches!

hmmm...
I have the weird craving for hot dogs (no immature jokes please).  I'll bring a dozen or so and some delicious local brew.  Any requests?  I live a few blocks from BottleWorks! :) :) :)
Who's worry? I'm not.

I can bring whatever is needed of me. If nothing else Brett or Eric can let me know what is needed and I can stop by a store on the way.

Hey carpoolers
would anyone be willing to give me ride down to Matthew's crib?

I'm up in Capitol Hill... not too far from Matthew's, but a pain to walk.

Worse comes to worse I can come get you.
Keep me posted if none of the carpoolers can get you.

I'll call you on the day.
What time do you think you're heading over there?

by johnbai on Mar 25, 2008 2:36 PM PDT up reply actions

Probably 2:30 or so.
So knowing me, I'll leave at 2:45 if I expect to leave at 2:30.

It should take about a half hour to get down there for me, so that's the best time.

I've got to back out.
I'm not going to have a car in time to make it up there.

But we've gotta start planning a LL softball game. I'm eager to smack some balls around with a cylindrical object.

where is everyone sitting opening day? I'm in the 300's somewhere, but I didn't buy the tickets so I have no idea where I am exactly.

Graham could just move to Victoria.

Victoria wishes it were England anyway, so there wouldn't be much change.

by Llewdor on Mar 28, 2008 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions

I don't know if they still do

but back when I was in college, Victoria's tourist slogan, at least for those of us in Washington, was "Victoria - More English Than England!".

I immediately wanted to go up there, get really drunk, and get in random fights.

Alright, we're one day away

So I'll pose the question: given the list above, is there anything here anybody believes we're missing? If it's within reason, I may see about trying to cover what needed items I can. I'm not moneybags or anything, and I'm already looking at bringing $30-40 worth of goods, but I figured we should get an idea of what else we could use if nobody else is bringing it, and if anyone coming could bring one or more of those things.

as opposed to Graham... who's the official idiot hammer.

PS Thanks again for the ride! It would have sucked to have had to figure out which bus to take up the hill with a melting icecream cake on my lap.

Not a problem.

It's easy to get on the freeway from there when Madison isn't all jammed up.
