Bret Boone revealed Monday than an alcohol problem contributed to him walking away from the game two years ago.
Boone had gotten to the point where he would drink 12-15 beers after a game. "I don't want to make a big deal about it, but I was at a point where sometimes it was more important to me to go to a hotel bar after a game," he said. "At the end, it takes away your passion and everything inside that makes you tick. I'm not proud of it. I'm proud I took care of the situation before it got to a point where it could have." Boone said he hasn't had a drink in seven months.

Could this have actually affected his play? If so, I'm kinda pissed, since we paid him well to play for us.

Well of course that could have affected his play

If you're drinking 12-15 beers every night, even if you're doing it every night your body is still going to feel the effects the next day.

I do recall him being scratched several times for "flu-like symptoms" now that I think about it

Actually

when I worked at a 5-star resort over last summer with ridiculously rich people from all over the country, the nicest beer anybody really ordered was Corona. Most of these insanely rich people (willing to tip $20 for me to spend 2 minutes getting them a can)were perfectly content with their Buds and Coorses

They drink nasty-ass beer and overspend on "luxury" vodka, something where it's damned near impossible to taste the difference in a mixed drink.

(I drink expensive vodkas... if they are chilled, in straight shots. Grey Goose wouldn't be close to one of the ones I'd pick for doing that, though.)

I have a friend

who raced downhill mountain bikes and he would drink like that and he didnt gain weight, infact if he didnt drink he usually wouldnt win.

I drank 16-20 shots

Last Monday...I was drinking in twos...so most likely 18...if not 16. Outside chance I drank 20.

Bottomline is, I nearly died. I threw up over 30 times...

40% AL 80 PR Vodka.
