Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

The funniest thing I have ever read:

Read this in the Oregonian's online Mariners forum:

561.1. I wish Ichiro would step up to lead...

Re: From The Top....... by TedKSucks, 1/28/08
...I'm stunned that he still does interviews in his native language. Honestly, I'd trade HIM for whatever the Ms can get right now while he's bigger than life.
He can hit for power, and doesn't. He leads off and doesn't walk at all. Granted he's always on base, but he's not the classic lead-off. Unfortunately there's not enough support to bat him third where he belongs but maybe Vidro would be better as a lead-off hitter.

ROTFLMAO.  Turbo as a leadoff hitter?  Trade Ichiro?

Sad thing is, judging from this guys posts, he's totally serious.

Yeah.....
What is sad is that this is the casual fan. The one the FO is constantly trying to placate. Make the moves that the masses like, and if it doesn't work out.... it's just luck. The moves were right, but the chemistry/manager/coaches weren't.

Wrong
the "casual fan" thinks Ichiro is actually some sort of Japanese super-robot and that is why he never makes mistakes, has an unnaturally strong arm for such a skinny little guy and steals bases without ever getting caught.

Interesting.
The only possible lead off man in our starting lineup that would be worse than Vidro is Sexson.

Maybe we can trade Ichiro for Jones?

And to think, I could have chosen to support the Yankees or Red Sox...

Here's another gem:
Two #1 starters (Bedard and Hernandez) plus Batista, that's conservatively 45-50 wins from the top three if they stay healthy.
Trading Jones is not a great loss despite all the talk about him being a hot prospect. His glove was terrible and I'm not so certain he'll turn into the .300 hitter Bavasi claimed he might be. Hopefully they can find 35 - 40 wins among the rest of their staff and still be in the hunt come late-September!

uhh...
if our starters win 80-90 games and we dont make the playoffs... would that be the most pathetic tragedy ever?

and yes, this guy is correct, adam jones wasn't terrific with the glove last year in the bigs. too bad guys with his athleticism tend to evolve into really freaking good defensive players once youve let them learn their positions...

Turbo as a leadoff hitter?
It would cut down on his GIDP...
