Dye ----> Reds: Bailey ----> White Sox

Well Ken Williams apparently wants an all new team.
Homer Bailey was a stud prospect before stinking up the joint last year to the tune of 0-6 with a 7.93 ERA in eight starts with the Reds and a record of 4-7 with a 4.77 ERA at Class AAA Louisville. I know ERA and W-L aren't great stats, but when you're terrible it shows. Plus I don't feel like looking up better data.
Jermaine Dye meanwhile is the same guy he's always been and gets to go to another hitter friendly park. Plus he's only got one year left on his current contract (with a mutal option for 2010) so don't be suprised if he gets flipped at the deadline for prospects or gets held onto for pick compensation next winter.
Seems like a decent deal for the Reds if they consider Dye as tradebait/pickbait and are not looking at him as the missing piece to a condending ballclub next year.

At least not tonight.

I remember when Walt Jocketty once acquired the best centerfielder of this generation
and several other all stars for spare parts.
My how the mighty have fallen.
Fuck Mark Mulder

My favorite was the Richie Sexson to the Diamondbacks trade
In hindsight it’s not that great since he got injured, but they essentially threw a buttload of crap + Overbay at Milwaukee and got Sexson back

...which had nothing to do with Walt Jocketty
How did I mess Jocketty being named Reds GM?!

Capuano was one of their top pitching prospects.
Moeller was a good backup catcher. And the rest were crap.
Still, an above average 1B, an excellent pitching prospect, a backup catcher, and some roster filler is a big price to pay for a 1 year rental 1B. And the 2004 team lost a franchise record 111 games.

I love Capuano.
I would love for Zduriencik to make a run at him, assuming it wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Good chance that Capuano will be a non-tender
Coming off of TJ surgery and Brewers probably don’t want to offer him arb.

Also the Brewers flipped Spivey for Ohka, and then Overbay for Bush, Zach Jackson, and Gabe Gross...
and then Zach Jackson was part of the Sabathia deal and we traded Gross for same random class A pitcher…
I think it worked out alright but yeah it was basically a nothing-nothing trade when it really came down to it.

It's definitely a high price
It just reminds me of a baseball mogul trade where you keep adding random players until it balances out

The Brewers got a bunch of cheap players
to hold positions and accumulate a little trade value until our prospects were ready, and an unexpected “ace” when Capuano won 18 games in ’05. It was a pretty good deal for an expiring contract first basemen.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.

Bailey had a 4.4 tRA last year
not awesome but not bad either. Gotta wonder what happened to the top pitching prospect in baseball though.

Kinda like Brian Bullington.
Mariners ----> Brewers.

YIKES
i thought the 7.93 ERA was referring to his AAA numbers and he just happened to pitch during each or Griffey’s rehab assignments or something. Is he pulling a Greinke or something?

The greatest feature of LL 1.0 was to the second timestampping
other than that LL 2.0 is superior in ever conceivable way.

I got so sick of embedded videos
Youtube links are annoying as is.

As much as I would enjoy posting videos for selfish reasons,
they tend to be funny only to the person who posts them.

I have come around
and decided to like what Jeff likes that embedded videos are ripe for abuse and would be annoying and how is it so hard to click a youtube link?
