Mariner stats / career leaders
Opened my new M's calendar today, and they list the career leaders in several categories. I thought some were interesting, so I figured I'd share:
Batting average: Ichiro .333
Hits: Edgar 2,078
HR: Junior 398
RBI: Edgar 1,175
Stolen Bases: Julio Cruz 290
ERA: Jeff Nelson 3.26
Wins: Moyer 145
Saves: Sasaki 129
Strikeouts: Randy Johnson 2,162
Games Played: Edgar 1,913
Now the fun part. Try to figure out who is second in all those categories, without looking it up!
Happy New Year everybody!
EDIT: Apparently Ichiro has passed Julio Cruz on the SB list since this calendar was published.

Do they state the minimum sample size for ERA and BA?

No, but looking at the list I'm assuming there is some type of minimum.
No Willie Bloomquist on the BA list for his one hot September or anything.

Well it's a career with the Mariners list
so Ballgame’s September would get brought down by the rest of his years here. But I imagine there has to be someone who was a Mariner for a very short period who got lucky and had a high BA or low ERA with the team.

Looking at it there doesn't seem to be anyone like that.

Edgar had about 500 more hits than Griffey

but I was thrown of by the total listed above being incorrect

SB
Ichiro is the M’s all time leader in that category – 315.
I was at the game when he passed Julio Cruz.

This could be correct.
I don’t know when the calendar was printed, but he wasn’t too far behind him on their list.

My try:
Hits: Ichiro
Avg: Edgar
HR: Edgar
RBI: Edgar
SB: Ichiro
ERA: Moyer (since Jeff Nelson doesn’t count and RJ is the obvious #1)
Wins: RJ
Saves: Putz
K: Moyer
Games: Griffey
by JI on Dec 31, 2008 11:42 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Moyer isn't even on the ERA list, and it does the top ten.

Relievers don't count
otherwise I need qualifying peramiters
by JI on Dec 31, 2008 11:48 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
As far as I can tell, it's all relievers except for one.

Let's see if I can do this
Batting average: Edgar
Hits: Griffey
HR: A-Rod
RBI: Edgar Griffey
Stolen Bases: Julio Cruz (Bill is right)
ERA: JJ Putz
Wins: Randy Johnson
Saves: Putz
Strikeouts: Freddy Garcia
Games Played: Griffey

I'll give it the ol' college try.
Avg: Edgar
Hits: Ichiro!
HR: Edgar
RBI: Jr.
SB: Ichiro
ERA: Putz
Wins: Randy
Saves: Putz
Strikeouts: Langston
Games: Jr.

I'd guess
AVG: Edgar
Hits: Ichiro
HR: Edgar
RBI: Jr.
SB: Julio Cruz (or Ichiro if you’re 8 months in the past)
ERA: Mike Jackson.
Wins: RJ
Saves: Mike “School’s Out” Schooler
Strikeouts: Moyer
Games: Jr.

Since we've already determined Moyer to be #2,
is Floyd Bannister #3 on the K’s list?
by Two Rs and Two Ls on Dec 31, 2008 3:01 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
I'd guess Mark Langston or Mike Moore
Bannister was a high strikeout pitcher, but he was only here for a few years. Mike Moore was here for like eight and he was a pretty good strikeout guy. And Mark Langston was Mark Langston.
Felix probably has more strikeouts as a mariner than Bannister.

I just looked that up a bit ago.
You’re right, I think Moore was third according to BBref.
Bannister, I believe, was the first M to lead the league in K’s, though.
