Non-tendered relievers
A few relievers were non-tendered, many of whom have once had moderate success and could be cheap options. I know little about any of them though, so I don't know if any are better than internal options. Here's a list of non-tendered relievers:
Takashi Saito, Scott Proctor, Yhency Brazoban, Clay Hensley, Charlie Haeger, Chris Britton, Matt Belisle (has been starting mostly), Gary Majewski
Also, Jonny Gomes, who kills lefties, was non-tendered, but I don't see where he'd fit if he can't platoon with Branyan at first.

Saito's great, but he's also 38.

It's not like we have to give him a multiyear deal.
Dude is good. I say go for it if you can get him on a reasonable contract.

Definately.
1 year, 2.5 MM sounds reasonable to me. He’d be a nice compliment to Corco (the one who pitches), RRS, and Lowe.

That;s what he's asking for.

Chuck James also got non-tendered.
Remember when a lot of people thought he was going to big and Dave was scared to death of his arm motion? Guess what happened there…
[I don’t see a master list of the non-tenders yet, wait a few days I guess.]

Chris Britton might not be a bad guy to take a flier on.
Quite good minor league numbers, pitched pretty well in limited time in 2006 and 2007 and he’ll only be 26 next season.
At the very least, it’d provide for some fun times when he and Silva amble up to the buffet table at the same time.

Wigginton non-tendered
He’d be a sick Branyan platoon partner/emergency infielder and would provide us something of a cushion in the event of a Beltre deal

Never hurts to have somebody who can stand there or at 2nd with a glove for a few innings
and not be completely brutal though

But...
he’s awesome defensively in LF, at least according to UZR’s small sample from this year (UZR/150 of 14.9 in left).
I’m definitely a Wigginton fan if he can be had for a 1-year commitment under $10 million. Give him 550ABs between DH, LF, 3B, and 2B (rarely. he totally sucks there) and enjoy the type-A compensation a year from now.

Ignore UZR when you have anything less than a full year
Don’t put much faith in then until you get 2 or 3 years.

I know.
I acknowledged it was a small sample. He could be anywhere from -10 to +10 in left and that would change my opinion that he’d be a great flier if he’d come cheap this year.
You really don’t have to define defensive metrics for me. Thanks, though.

It was easier for me to try to explain that
because starting off your post of “he’s awesome defensively” is just irresponsible when there is no evidence to back it up.

Holy Crap, he kicked ass last year.
Yeah, he’ll never repeat that, but I’d take a one year flyer on him to play first.

There's room for Jonny Gomes on this team
I also like Ty Wigginton

With Gomes + Wigginton you could
vs righties
1B Branyan
DH Clement
C Johjima
vs lefties
1B Wigginton
DH Gomes
C Clement/Johjima

although I'd just start Gomes every day at DH and platoon Clement/Johjima at catcher

Chris Britton and Clay Hensley
They would both be good pickups.

Chris Capuano plz
Hopefully Z will take a flier on the former Brewer. Proctor, Britton, and Wigginton are also interesting at the right price. Everyone else on the list kinda blows/maybe injured for life.

Capuano to the rotation, RRS to LOOGY/closer, Washburn to Exile Island
Me likey. This is getting dangerously close to rosterbation now, so I’ll stop.
Damn Putz trade got me all excited.

Yhency Brazoban
when healthy, had some of the sick nasty stuff that made me pitcherbate. “Tightly wound” breaking stuff, similar to Marmol. Is his arm still whole?
Can't wait for Ruskell to knock this one out of the park.

He looks done
Tommy John in ’07 followed by an undisclosed shoulder injury this year. Anything more than an MLC and NRI appears to be a waste at this point.
