Rumor Mill: It should be posted here too edition
Via Rosenthal (and outright stolen from USSM):
Something else to consider: Wakamatsu could hire former A's and Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson. The two knew each other from when Wakamatsu was a catcher and Peterson a pitching coach in the White Sox's minor-league system.
"Don Wakamatsu is a friend of mine," Peterson said Tuesday night. "I am very happy for him. It would be an honor and a privilege to be his pitching coach."

Peterson would be a huge upgrade
He works with Dr. James Andrews in the American Sports Medicine Institute to work with pitchers to master an efficient delivery. The only knock you can really find on him is his claim that he reportedly said he could fix Victor Zambrano in “10 minutes” and Kazmir was “at least 3 years away.”

I was worried about that link, but then I read the article.
His take on mechanics seems to be pretty reasonable, and his opinion on what is known to cause injuries (throwing too many pitches, lack of conditioning) is nice to hear.

And as said at USSM
He’d would insist on 100% fastballs

I know what you mean, and I totally agree.
This got me thinking though; how nice will it be if we can stop hoping they make anything but the worst possible decisions and start thinking they are capable of making the best possible or at least good) decisions?

Rick Peterson would be absolutely amazing for you guys.
This should happen, like now. The King would quickly take his place with Peterson’s tutelage.

Don't get me started.
Screw you, Mariners. I'm back in football's loving arms. *edit: well, shit. This isn't going well.

I just love him so much and even if we can't have him, I want him to be better than everyone and rightfully talk his place as King.

I may be talking out of my ass here, but
wasn’t Peterson at least partly responsible for the Kazmir-Zambrano debacle with the Mets?
Obviously I’m not biasing his ability as a pitching coach merely upon that one event. Just a bit troubling, that’s all.

Well, in fairness to Peterson...
Kazmir was a small lefty, who smokes a ton of weed (and the Mets knew it), partied a lot and they had injury concerns (which are somewhat warranted) and Zambrano always had great stuff.
Peterson saw a mechanical flaw he said he could fix in 5 minutes and if in fact he was right, the trade wouldn’t look bad at all because Zambrano had more value at the moment of the trade to the Mets because he was a big league pitcher that could help for the stretch run. And if he fixed it, he’d be a very good pitcher. Unfortunately, we’ll never know, because what Peterson couldn’t fix is Zambrano’s elbow and shoulder and those were shot.

Thanks for the clarification.
I know I was missing some vital details.

Ive heard several long interviews on the radio here in NY with Peterson..
the guy is an impressive and dedicated as it gets in regards to pitching. I wont bother to discuss whether or not he always gets the job done on the field, but if you get a chance to listen to this guy talk pitching you’ll be tremendously impressed

Sources link Wakamatsu to current A's hitting coach
First question: who?
Second question: what?
I know there were injuries, but the A’s offense sucked last season. If Wakamatsu is just bringing his buddy in for the hell of it, I’m a little concerned.
