Fire Joe Morgan is no more
Mose Schrute and the rest of the gang at Fire Joe Morgan are calling it quits.
After 21 years, and almost 40 million posts (we'll have to check those numbers, but it's something like that), we have decided to bring FJM to an end.
Although we have not lost our borderline-sociopathic joy for meticulously criticizing bad sports journalism, the realities of our professional and personal lives make FJM a time/work luxury we can no longer afford.
I have to say that FJM was instrumental in my getting interested in sabermetrics, and it was amazing how funny a few people could be while writing essentially the same post every single time some sportswriter wrote something asinine.
Awesome work, guys.

After Ken Tremendous had a kid, that was pretty much the end of it.
He was responsible for a huge chunk of the writing over the last year or two.

Inevitable, not really unexpected, but still quite sad.

I think the most unexpected part is them taking the whole site down.
I thought they would’ve found replacement writers before hanging it up.

That's not surprising
They’d been running out of content lately

It's funny,
their final post (not including the farewell post) was about the possibility of Joe Morgan being fired.

It had a good run
They managed to shift a lot of focus onto how much Joe Morgan, and the national sports media in general, sucks. For that I’m thankful.

Absolutely.
You have to wonder how much longer it could go on. But they managed to keep it pretty fresh considering the subject matter was painfully repetitive.

Since we're on the theme
I know some had grown past it, but Baseball Mogul Online is also ceasing as of 12-1-08.

I love how
the less effort I put into managing the Phillies, the better they often ended up doing.
I still have teams there. It’ll suck to lose it. I’m glad they stopped charging a few months ago.

Somebody could always
start a Fire Joe Buck website? Or even better, Kill Tim McCarver. Just a thought.

There's a website called Shut Up Tim McCarver.
I thought about starting one to encourage the removal of Buck Martinez’s voicebox, but he doesn’t work enough to really warrant such an effort.

Not consistent enough
They needed to be more consistent in their posting. Though I haven’t actually watched them. Maybe they should have hired Gary Sheffield? He’s consistent and does it the right way.
I’ll miss those guys. It was a great snarky site.

Absolutely agree
Ken Tremendous needs to concetrate more on his writing skills. Perhaps he should hire Dave Concepcion as a guest writer. Concepcion is a very gritty and consistent writer.
