Swisher---> NYY
Per Rosenthal
The Yankees have acquired first baseman Nick Swisher and Class AA right-hander Kanekoa Texeira from the White Sox, according to major-league sources.Swisher, a switch-hitter, likely will play first base for the Yankees, replacing Jason Giambi, who is a free agent.
The exact players going back to the White Sox are not yet known, but sources say the White Sox will be receiving two minor leaguers and one major-league reserve. ESPN.com is reporting that Yankees Class AAA right-hander Jeff Marquez is in the deal.
MORE TO COME
Assuming they didn't give up anyone they'll miss, this could bve a pretty good deal for the Yanks: they're buying low on a pretty good player, and Swisher can play 1st, right, or left depending on how the Yankee offseason goes.

I like it for the Yanks, assuming they don't give up Phil Hughes or something.
He put up a BABIP of .231 last year, and his LD% was right up there with his career norms. Very affordable contract, solid defender in a corner outfield spot or at first, gets on base, and has awesome facial hair.
I’ve long had a mancrush on Swisher. Great buy-low candidate.

i'm pretty sure
you can subtract the facial hair part on the Yankees…. which would cause him to lose all value! :P

Didn't happen to Rocco Baldelli

I thought there would be a Sampson effect once he shaved the beard off.
I could be wrong though

I don't think their rule is no facial hair.
Mustachios and sideburns to bottom of the ear are legit if I recall.

So did he completely suck in center field last year?
Cause going from CF to 1B… man that’s just… you’ve got to be BAD. At any rate, its hard to judge this deal before the return is finalized. If they really plan to play him at first, I’m endlessly thankful that our team is rebuilding and won’t step into the Giambi trap.
Actually, isn’t Abreu a FA this year? Which would kinda make Swisher more an Abreu replacement than a Giambi replacement.

Depending on how good the Yanks prospects are, this could be a steal.
Hopefully Z man can pull off bargain trades like this.
