Thanksgiving Football - UPDATED x2
It wasn't long ago that Matthew put up a post about holding a Lookout Landing sports gathering sometime during the Thanksgiving weekend. That conversation eventually teetered out, although it's starting to come up again. In order to facilitate a discussion about when to have some LL football, and in order to introduce a poll so that we can have a visual for what days work best, I thought I'd put up a FanPost.
There has also been talk about doing a non-sporting event during the weekend. Let us know if you're down for that, too.
UPDATE: We're looking at Friday the 28th, noon at Cal Anderson on Capitol Hill. There's a shot that we might move to a different park if Cal Anderson is too crowded. Afterwards we'll likely do a thing involving getting food & drink. Be there.
The following people can make it on Friday. Am I forgetting anyone?:
Katal
Johnbai
Omerta
Ningwers + friends
Matthew
Brett
Nola
Graham
Two Rs and Two Ls
Tootthekazoo
Robert (possibly joining the festivities later)
Anyone else?

Do you have your work schedule for that week yet?
My body won't let me play football, but I am planning on coming out and heckling.
Oh and rec this post folks.
Come on man, my dad played last year and he's older than you.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be comedic.. But I laughed.
I’m gonna be in Renton for the weekend, but I won’t have a car. Wah waaah

There are a lot of us south of Seattle
You can probably get a ride.
My weekend is free...er, flexible
I would just like to do it when the most people can do it.

Nothing?
Come on people, that was like a meatball right down the center and you all let it go right by without even swinging!
Brayden is on your list of mean people or is the list itself mean?
Or maybe even a list you maintain of people that you will be mean to?
Non-sporting event is go.
It sounds like we’ll be getting together to watch the Sens play the Isles at Spitfire on Saturday night. I make no promises, but I fully expect Robert to flip out and run around the bar yelling “The Heat is on!” at least once during the evening.
Okay, to recap:
Jeff <3 Jesusson
Robert <3 Spezza
Matthew <3 Heater
I guess that leaves Graham and I. I’m vacillating between Fish and the A-Train. Cody and The General were dark horse candidates up until they got demoted :(
This weekend!
I’m gonna be gone the whole week from 11/24 through 11/30

Friday and Saturday are the most popular days
Want to shoot for Friday afternoon?
Yes... and limit all further hockey discussion in this thread
That’s what made the last diary post so unreadable. 300 comments of hockey talk is enough to drive me to drink.
Friday afternoon football.
Saturday evening game and drinking.

Come sit by me and we will drink together because there's no way I can handle the hockey talk either.

If you can make it Friday around 1pm, please commit...
The more of you who say you’re going to show, the more other people will sign up.
I'm in.
There is a chance I won’t be able to play (nagging injury), but I’ll work on getting some friends of mine to come along too.
Well... he has a convincing argument here
But I think by that logic, Gomez is the second greatest player in LL history.
Well the goal is to have a gross and disgusting manly beard actually.
You’re one of like 3 or 4 people I know who can’t grow a beard, so don’t feel too bad.

Awesome... let's keep it going.
Katal, Robert, Nightwinger, Omerta, Johnbai, Nola, a couple of friends that we’re promising to bring, and who else?
Friday?
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
Baker said in another thread (I believe) that he won't be in town
Brett will make it.
I’d almost like to see another FanPost where people could just reply “Yes, I will be there”, but a third post about LL Thanksgiving Football would probably be overkill. Maybe as the game gets closer.
I'll be there.

So I'm in Seattle through Sunday afternoon
and I should be able to squeeze in some time Fri and Sat away from unpacking shit.
You can catch the 3rd period of the Sens game on Saturday!!!
Weee!!!!
WE WON A GAME
And Winchester and Foligno scored!!
It’s just too bad they have four days off now. Damn Canadians scheduling the Battle of Ontario on Thanksgiving afternoon…
I'll play, but I won't actually be able to contribute anything besides catching the ball.
Also Graham is in.

My attendance is likely going to be a game-time decision.
I have a lot of people to catch up with in Seattle and only two days to do it in.

I'll be playing a game of tackle football in Bellingham the day prior.
So chances are I’ll be incredibly sore and gimpy, but I’ll do my best.
That's the spirit!
I’ll be playing with a broken pelvis, two fractured ribs and I’m missing one eye from a freak peregrine falcon mishap over at Graham’s house.
Given that it's dark by 4pm and significantly colder by 3pm
Does anyone else think it would be smart to meet at 12 noon instead of 1pm?
Sounds good to me
Does 12 not work for anyone?
I'm okay with playing from 12-4, going for drinks + food, then returning
to the field for a short night game. I’m sure my legs will be killing me, but hell, we only play so many times a year.
12-4 is a lot of football.
NOLA is not sure she can handle this much football.
And is also too lazy to sign out of other peoples’ accounts.
I doubt it will go all four hours
We’ll probably get tired and/or cold by 3.
Yay I can briefly make it for noon
Might just bring my nice stuff to change into for work, and play for a bit since I start work at 2 on Friday. What a difference an hour makes

Sweet!
Thanks for editing the time on the post Katal.
Realistically, I think we’re looking at 12-2:30 football… then off to get warm drinks somewhere nearby.
Is playing necessary to get the drinks?
by Kirsten Schlewitz on Nov 26, 2008 7:23 AM PST up reply actions
Yes. If you only watch, you'll be forced to stand outside in the cold
while everyone else drinks hot toddies, hot buttered rums and/or irish coffees. And then we will laugh uproariously from time to time and you’ll be left wondering what was so funny. And if you try to just go home, we will activate the remote-controlled choke collar that Graham gives everyone before each game.
How about I donate my drinks to you, since I'll need to head to work at like 1:45
I’m not 100% sure I can make it, but I will donate my drinks to you regardless
