Bedard extension?

Jim Street sez Bedard told the Orioles it would take a 7 year $100M dollar deal to keep him in Baltimore. Would he go for the same sort of extension offer from us? Is that too many years for a guy coming off an injury?

If we're contending
And Bedard likes being on the team I imaging it wouldn't take that much to extend him.

That's essentially a 5Y/83M
free agent contract.

I'd give him 5/70 if he'd take it. I'd be wary giving Bedard 7 years.

The thing is
Bedard is much much much much better than Zito.
What do I look like, a guy who's not lazy?

grrrrrrrrr
this is all getting in the way of Brent Lillibridge's move to the Orioles, and I DON'T LIKE IT.

I still find it hilarious
that that kid was one the site for like 2 days at most, and we got a running joke out of him. Poor guy.
Baka.

That's what you get
when every single post you make is a badly spelled, amateurishly punctuated verbatim quote from random sites and unknown sources.

If nothing else
Brent Lillibridge is a player whose career path I will pay attention to now.

I'm supposed to go to Atlanta this summer, and I hope he's still there because I'd love to get his autograph or a picture.  Just because.

He's the key to this whole thing
Y'see, according to some random poster who we scared off, the Orioles only wanted GS52 so they could, and I quote, "flip him to the Braves for Brent Lillibridge".

This assertion came amid a sea of really badly spelled, horribly rumor-based "postings" from this particular individual, who Graham (and I, to a lesser extent) proceeded to harass to such a degree that he now doesn't post here any more.  I'm quite proud of this, but the side effect is that now, in almost any Bedard-rumor thread from now until the trade is complete, I will, in fact, wonder aloud at the fate of Brent Lillibridge.

That's how ridiculous this whole thing's gotten.

you realize that annual salary
is $2 million more than silva is making? i think 7/100 wouldnt be terrible at all, but i would be wary of that long of a deal.

four years vs seven years
it's really not worth comparing AAV when dealing with one contract that's nearly twice as long as the other.

God it's going to suck if I have to watch HoRam pitch this year.

Erik Bedard: LL's Kidney Stone.
We all know it's going to hurt like hell, it's only a matter of time before it hits, and the wait just might kill us before the pain gets the chance.

by Matthew on Jan 31, 2008 1:22 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I had a kidney stone once in HS
Woke up with the worst nausea imaginable from the pain and it never let up until it passed, far enough that it wasn't blocking anything at least, in the hospital.

I'd liken it more to watching Ho pitch, because at least the horrid pain goes away after a short while.

he shattered a kneecap.

He gave an interview once
where he said that "amphetamines are something you stick in your butt.  Period".  Man, that guy's clueless.

It'll probably be more like brain cancer
because once we realize how bad it is, it'll be way too late to do anything about it.

I have to admit
I really want Bedard now too.

It was spending an entire afternoon watching his starts that did it :(

My wife doesn't give a shit about baseball
But I told her the M's were close to making a big trade and it may fall through. She said, "doesn't this happen every year to the Mariners?"
