Apparently This Isn't Over Yet...
It's from one of the two Granma/Pravdas the Mariners have (their site and KOMO), but it's still interesting.

If we're the only ones in the race, could we possibly actually maybe for once swing a decent, non-crippling, non-Adam Jones or Carlos Triunfel involving deal for a TOR pitcher?

Ah shit..
Doesn't this sound like a couple years ago and the beginning of last year? When Hargrove wanted to "be aggressive" and we ended running out of an inning or two a game? That was annoying..

McLaren said that during the winter meetings.
Some people think that this is his first managing job. Little did you know, that he was the Manager of the Olympic Hills Elementary School T-ball league for 20 years before getting called up to the show.
I hate the offseason
They need a rest
Now, if they switched to indoor wiffleball after the World Series, then we're talking....
LL Event XII? I think there is potential there.
I am so unbelievably down for this
Plus you only need about 6-8 people for two teams since you can't hit it very far.
Prepare to face my wicked offspeed stuff.
Don't short change whiffleball
Throwing wiffle high cheese
Seriously.

That is all.
So Charlton's going to teach Felix
He's going to ask Felix to throw his fastball more
I'll pause here so you can wipe to vomit off your lips.
Same basic thing
This is, slightly tangentially, why I hate nostalgia. If Norm Charlton says it, most Seattle baseball fans will think it's completely true, because he's The Sheriff. Nobody will question it. And everybody should.
I'm still sticking by the fact that
If you throw that type of heat you need to use it. The problem has never been the fact that he throws way too many in my opinion. The major problem is that his fastball just isn't good enough. Don't get me wrong, most guys would die to throw that type of pitch but he really needs to improve his location. If he never can keep his fastball down and away from the middle of the plate, he will never win a Cy Young. I can struggle through a few years of seeing guys crank a straight fastball now and then if it means he learns how to throw it well.

Forget the high-fastball idiocy
Baker:
First, Bavasi still expects to get a deal done for a top-of-the-rotation starting pitcher. He never mentions names, but it's clear he was talking about Erik Bedard. It's also clear that Bavasi feels this team is ready to challenge for a playoff spot and is ready to give up Adam Jones and plenty of other names to get a deal done.
It's always the guy who doesn't know when to walk away from the craps table:
(Baker quoting Bavasi)
"We feel we have to make a move -- one more move."
By the way
The Braves inked

Oh, you meant good news for the M's...sorry I have none -- which could be good in a way to not have any news.
