Ohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrap
The translation is horrible, and I couldn't understand about half of it, but it appears that Jones has been called back to Seattle.
Don't want to jump to conclusions, but I don't like the sound of that.
It does sound like he was hitting well, however.

I really like Bedard, but this is idiocy...
Already have

Huh. Never been to that website.
I wouldn't
From Wikipedia:
In 2007, researchers discovered LRRTM1, the first gene linked to increased odds of being left-handed. The researchers also claim that possessing this gene slightly raises the risk of psychotic mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.
by Edgar for Pres on Jan 13, 2008 8:04 PM PST up reply actions
neat
But they don't make that last claim exactly. There is merely a statistical correlation, which does not necessarily implicate the gene itself but could also be something genetically linked to it (ie you can get the handedness without the schizo but you can't get the schizo without the handedness. So if there's any crazy in Jeff's dad, chances are he's got it too).

If this trade goes down
We should call this trade "Fucking Bedarded."
Yes? No?
Ok
We have way too many holes in our O for this crap.
Hmm...
I'd rather have Kenny Lofton
//actually does duck away from Red, but he's faster than I am and grabs me in a headlock.
//gasps for air and pretty much dies.

The title of this thread
by BaltimoreMarinersFan on Jan 14, 2008 12:55 PM PST reply actions
Okay
http://www.orioleshangout.com/article.asp?ID=1299
"This morning we were told that a contact close to the Mariners front office has said the Mariners have an offer on the table for Bedard that includes outfielder Adam Jones, reliever George Sherrill, and right-handed pitching prospect Christopher Tillman. Although Jones would be the center point of the trade, Tillman is considered a guy with significant upside and Sherrill would help in the pen now."
I doubt it has any legs. But I bring it up for this reason:
Knowing that this trade will be made, and knowing Adam Jones is involved, how much/who can the M's give up where you won't kill someone. When I saw Jones/Tillman/Sherrill, I realized that I wouldn't be beyond hope if that ended up being the trade. I wouldn't be unhappy, but keeping Clement, Wlad, Morrow (blech), and Triunfel would at least raise my spirits a little.
Thoughts?
OH's "sources"
Also, Jones is supposed to resume playing in VZ tonight.
My guess
No no no, I know.
Imagine you are Bavasi. You are now not good at your job, and you need to trade for Bedard. You do not necessarily care about your future, but you DO care about your health, and you are worried that if you trade a certain combination of prospects, the users of Lookout Landing will storm your house and murder you.
So, you, as Bavasi, consult (insert one of the users of LL here, in this case: "Matthew") and ask "Okay, this trade needs to go down, but I don't want to die. Adam Jones needs to be involved, and it probably is AT LEAST 3 people. Who and what is the absolute most I can give away that you will not murder me." And Matthew answers with..........
?
I know what you were saying
In answer to your question; I don't know. I tried to think about it for a few minutes, but the entire concept is beyond my ability to deal with. I can only deal with a BATNA.
Anything below that (and for me, Adam Jones is below it) is going to piss me off and I learned from the Raffy trade that no matter how stupid this team is; for the time being, I'm going to continue to root for it. It's only a question of how actively. (2007 saw an all time low for me in games attended per days in Seattle ratio)
Hm... yeah.
I'm pretty sure I'm already dead inside
this from mlb.com
Maybe there is something to this deal with tillman being involved instead of morrow.
I don't even want to give up Tillman
So what does that come down to:
Morrow + Sherril + 2 other somewhat interesting players maybe (how about Tui and Feirbend)
Maybe that's still too much.
by Edgar for Pres on Jan 14, 2008 10:24 PM PST up reply actions
You gotta give up Tillman before Sherrill
If I had faith (I don't) in the Mariners FO and they went out and got someone like Lofton to stick in LF, pushing Raul into a three way platoon with Richie and Vidro at 1B and DH I would be fine with giving Baltimore this package for Bedard:
Morrow + Wlad + Tillman/Butler + Saunders/Reed/Chen + Triunfel
It's a huge huge price to pay, but it's nobody we'd need for 2008-9 and we could honestly be a 90+ win team on paper with Bedard in the rotation and Jones + !Ibanez in the OF.
Just found out why the o's want sherrill
I'd rather trade Sherril
by Edgar for Pres on Jan 15, 2008 8:19 AM PST up reply actions
Worst Acceptable Scenario
I'd suffer more pain from losing Sherrill than losing Morrow - I've not had such a strong fondness with Morrow up to this point. Of those on the periphery of the majors, I like Clement a lot but am less attached to Wlad, but would prefer to retain both where possible.
Of the prospects, and what I've read of them, Trifunel and Tui would each be more damaging than Tillman.
On that basis, my tipping point according to your rules would be Jones + Morrow + Tillman.
Jones + Morrow + Wlad/Clement/Tri/Tui would be too much, as would be Jones + Sherrill + anyone.
Sponsor of Jamie Burke's baseball-reference page
I don't doubt it!
From everything I've read on here so far, though, Tillman doesn't get nearly as much press, or community members excited, as Trifunel or Tui.
It's a bit of a throwaway discussion because for many Jones alone is too much but, playing the game the way it was set further up the thread, that was pretty much my feeling.
Sponsor of Jamie Burke's baseball-reference page
I'd guess we'd all rank him over Tui
by Graham MacAree on Jan 15, 2008 10:37 AM PST up reply actions
Why is anyone high on Tui?
I know his family name is royalty in this area, but so far he's nothing special as a baseball player.
