I'm hung over
This is probably my Saturday night whether I want it to be or not.

But at least I get college football during the day.

Which team that I like do I want to see...
Get blown out?  ND or the Mariners?  I'm gonna go ND.

BIG RICHIE!
Big Richie is back, we still believe.

There's still a chance, until he watches strike three.

....Big Richieeeeee.....BIG RICHIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Good day for the Pac-10 so far
If the Mariners can win with a Weaver no-hitter the northwest will dominate sportscenter!!!

I bet JJ's not feeling too good today
Michigan just fell to 0-2 with a blowout loss to Oregon.

On the other hand
at least this call doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

by Jeff Sullivan on Sep 8, 2007 4:12 PM PDT up reply actions

I seriously think
Ichiro's on the verge of flipping out.

Somebody tell the umps

More like men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Am I right, ump?

I'll take any silver linings I can find.

Don't swing, Richie.
Don't come back next season either.

by MfaninAlaska on Sep 8, 2007 4:21 PM PDT reply actions

So
are there still people out there who want Jeff Weaver re-signed?

by Jeff Sullivan on Sep 8, 2007 4:24 PM PDT reply actions

We were gonna re-sign him?
I had him pegged as leaving for somewhere else after this year no matter what.

by Gomez on Sep 8, 2007 4:39 PM PDT up reply actions

Granderson just hates Seattle
because Mariner blogs get more hits than his blogs.

by JLC on Sep 8, 2007 4:27 PM PDT reply actions

He should've gunned that ball in towards an umpire.

The M's...
... would have to go 7-15 the rest of the way to finish 81-81.

It's a possibility based on play so far in September, I suppose, but that would mean a season-finishing stretch of 8-28.

You might also consider the caliber of the opposition the next 10 games (after this series) is considerably worse than what we faced during this collapse (no teams below .500): Oakland home/away (terrible offense) and Tampa Bay at home (unbelievably bad defense, worse than ours, even). I don't think they will faceplant those games. They might even go 6-4, 7-3 and give some false hope.

I think we are looking at something like 83 (if they really suck the rest of the way) to 87 (if they perk up some) wins... which is at the higher end of my predictions, but about where I saw them- improved, but flawed.
