McLaren will start the vets
and then take them out, one by one, for defensive replacements in between at-bats by the Rangers, ensuring they all get the nice ovation that every veteran deserves.

Young has been inconsistant as of late
Hoffman's a one inning pitcher.

Their offense sucks too. It's not a clear cut as it was a week ago, not even if they get the cushy schedule.

by JI on Sep 30, 2007 1:12 PM PDT up reply actions

It's not that bad
they have a .767 team OPS on the road. It's just that Petco is far and away the most pitcher-friendly ballpark on the planet.

Yeah
Any other Rockies starter would've been better than Fogg, though at the same time, Colorado needed to win every game they could down the stretch to force this playoff, while SD actually rested Peavy just for this scenario.

The Rockies have actually been very fortunate with their rotation.  Other than Elmer Dessens, none of their pitchers have been any worse than replacement level, despite Coors.  COORS FIELD HUMIDOR FOR NL MVP!

But from Felix's embrace with Chaves, and piecing together my interpretation of what the commentators were saying, we may be looking for a new pitching coach soon.  ANyone else draw this conclusion or am I just being paranoid?

how did you
end up as a mariner fan in the first place?

by redwolf75 on Sep 30, 2007 3:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Dunno.
It just kind of happened.  I have watched baseball since I was at school back in the last nineties, and decided that I needed a team to support to get full enjoyment out of it.  I always admired Ichiro as well.  However, I am still not sure what actually clicked to make me become a Mariner fan.

The M's have a few fans here.
On the baseball team that I used to play for before I moved cities, there were three other M's fans, two of whom had actually been to Safeco.  So I am not alone, although if you are going to find any M's fans, it would probably be on the only baseball team in town I guess! ;)
