Best SS 3b Combo?

I have ARod and Hanley on my fantasy team, and I was thinking, damn that's a good combo, but then I thought, hm.. they have good counterparts on their teams as well, New York debated last year on who has the best SS and 3b combo, but with Hanley lighting it up, maybe Florida's is the best.  Which combo would you rather have?  (I was tempted to put Yuni and Beltre or Beltre and Triunfel in, but I have a feeling that would win).
(Sorry if this diary sucks, I'm sorta bored at work).

What's a better 2b ss combo i wonder
At first I thought definetley Rollins and Utley, but Uggla and Hanley proved they aren't flukes.
Michael Young and Ian Kinsler could be there too (/sarcasm), remember when Some guy from the Rangers website said he could get 40 hrs?

Uggla and Kinsler are second basemen.

Two more
Chipper and Renteria -- They aren't fashionable and often they aren't healthy, but...

Braun and Hardy -- Give them a few years and maybe they'll make the poll at least, if Braun's fielding improves beyond the historically bad.

Wright/Reyes
Yes, there's a little dropoff between Wright and Miggy/A-Rod, but Reyes, in terms of production combined with defensive competence, is ahead of the other options IMO.

I would say....
Miggy and Hanley. BUTTTTT Miggy is just so terrible with the glove. On offense i think they win. But Overall i give the edge to A-Rod and Jeter, who do decent on field and with the bat. Not Reyes and Wright because Wright has not shown consistancy in my opinion.

Hm?
Wright has been pretty consistent the last three years (unless you mean in season consistency).

those
numbers are better than i remember. The edge still goes to a-rod and jeter for expierence. Oh and yes Jeter is a decent fielding shortstop. His numbers are not that great. I've read in a ton of places that he is the most over rated defensive shortstop. Doesn't mean he isn't incredible but he isn't that great. And he isn't a Omar!

Another one that might be a good combo to have... JJ Hardy and Ryan Braun. Braun has light the ball up! I haven't seen JJ's numbers in awhile but he was smokin it early on in the year.

Wright's numbers in his
full seasons, have essentially been the same. OPS+s 138, 136, 144.

Secondly, I suggest you read Bill James' essay about  Jeter's defense in The Fielding Bible.

Don't forget
that he kind of looks like the Jordan logo when he has to get to a ball and jump throw when most short stops could pick the ball, sit down, and throw and still get the guy out.

nope, Uribe and Richar
WHAT ARE YOU DOING JOHNNY MAC?!?!

by MFAN on Aug 23, 2007 2:38 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I almost wrote that one
but I laid off of it because of Gordon's potential.

Bartlett, Punto, Richar and Uribe all suck and that is unlikely to change.

offensively
Miggy and Hanley, no question.  All around, I'd have to go with Wright and Reyes.  Miggy and Hanley are both pretty terrible defensively, while Reyes and Wright are both above average defenders.
