seriously...
i was expecting a hate filled entry about god knows what, but they actually used logic and gave a little credit where credit is due (forgetting about sean green, but no one is perfect)

pretty good write-up
Nothing that I disagree with. I might say Green > Morrow, but that's about it.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING JOHNNY MAC?!?!

That's a well-informed piece.
A six-man bullpen of lefty specialist Eric O'Flaherty, long reliever Ryan Rowland-Smith, middle reliever Sean Green, right-handed setup man Brandon Morrow, left-handed setup man George Sherrill, and closer J.J. Putz would be a formidable group that'd lack any massive flaws.

I, by the way, would be tempted to go with a ten-man pitching staff -- with Cha Seung Baek, Ryan Feierabend, Jon Huber, Cesar Jimenez, Mark Lowe, John Parrish, Horacio Ramirez, Chris Reitsma, Rick White, and Sean White being left off of the active roster -- come playoff time, while Mike Morse and Jeremy Reed filled out the bench for depth purposes.

Even though I'm somewhat of a prick, ...
there's no way that I'd purposely infuriate an opposing team's fan base by flaming them on their own blog.

It's nice to know that someone around here is a bigger jackass than me, though.

well...
It's perfectly fair to point out that Yankee fans shouldn't be criticizing anyone else's success as due to playing crappy teams.

Although what his second post will be has me worried.

I didn't personally insult anyone
did I? I just said that, they shouldn't say anything about us playing bad teams, when had they played just two .500< teams, after the AS game, that they might not have been in this race in the first place.

I don't know why I expected anything less
but it's amazing how little you listen. You made an entire diary about how to get less people to hate you. The single overwhelming point was to stop trolling on other blogs. Yet...

Was there a need to say anything in the first place?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING JOHNNY MAC?!?!

Yeah, most people call
us a great team and give us a lot of credit for exceeding everyone's expectations. Those stupid Yankee fans though, are all like "Oh, they're just a really lucky team" and "Their only good quality is their bullpen" and then there was that idiot who somehow got the urge to say that the one reason we've been playing good is because we've been playing bad teams, even though he knew that the only reason that the Yankees are in a playoff race is because they played one team with a record greater than .500 from the AS game until about a week or so ago. I just lost it.

No
the Yankees are in the race because they're a very, very good team.

by Jeff Sullivan on Aug 23, 2007 8:57 PM PDT up reply actions

I'd like to see their record if
they played the Angels or Red Sox or us during that stretch.

That about sums up the mariners, the lucky with a good bullpen part.

Brainwashing
I was planning to brainwash some barely-literate 'fans' to come over here and post random, vexing inanities. You know, just to annoy everyone, since invasion by batting-average-citing commoners is regarded as a likely LL doomsday scenario.

(Yes, yes, I know. "Fuck you Scrappy." How very tiresome.)

And then... I saw young Mr. Thompson here, and realized that there was no need at all. Fine work, m'boy. Keep it up.

But, for the record, John Olerud sucked.

Shame on you, Coach
I usually try to lay off you, but seriously, why are you still trolling other team's SN blogs?

I hereby forbid you from posting until Saturday.

Seriously, Coach.....
do you wake up every morning thinking to yourself, "How can I be a jackass today?"

Check mark for today, good buddy. Check mark.

Since I've never bothered
do you have to register for each SB Nation site, or is your user name universal? If it's the former, god damn. That's some commitment, coach.

by Slozbury Stouvre on Aug 23, 2007 8:38 PM PDT reply actions

I've registered(and commented sometimes)
on most of them. But yeah, it's not universal. Though I've been lucky enough to get the same username on almost every one.

Except Gaslamp Ball. There's a goose there, but it's not me.

Coach Owen's comment
Well... that Relaunch guy that Coach was arguing with is definitely a bigger dickhead than Owens... so at least our own C.O. is butting heads with the right people.

by johnbai on Aug 24, 2007 12:35 AM PDT reply actions

seriously
I didn't think C.O. said anything too bad. I read it a bunch of times and tried to see it from as many angles and I honestly can't see what that guy is wound up about.

I don't know the whole C.O. story, though, and I can see why you don't want to poke a hornet's nest, but he really didn't say too much wrong (substantively or how he said it).

RE: Mariners Offense
Even if it's not great, it's better than people are giving it credit for.  Our OPS+ of 108 is tied for 3rd best in the AL and our 5.18 R/G on the Road is 3rd best in the AL, and Fourth in RPG/BPF, so our offense isn't great, but it's pretty good.

On the Texas Site
On the day of their 30 run game, some guy did an OT:post about how liberals let Lindsay Lohan free and thus suck at government.  I think, in some way or another, every blog has something that will piss someone else off.  Coach/Will is ours.
