Maclaren's job
I'm sure a guy who has managed in the minors and served as a bench coach for 20 something years knows a thing or two about how to succeed in baseball. I don't think Maclaren would have the support of the organization, Hargrove, and the players if he was really as inept as posters here make him out to be. As bad as some of his moves may seem, I'm sure that he knows well what he is doing out there. Yet everyone points him out to be totally inept, day after day. What you have to realize is that he doesn't think like us fans do. He doesn't look at the same data or have the same approach to running a team that we do. For one thing, he has a great deal of faith in certain players and sticks with them despite slumps and bad results in the field. He doesn't rely on stat analysis so much - he deals with real people and with a ton more variables. Sending out Parrish in the 7th inning last night looked really dumb to everyone, and what I get from that is that Maclaren knows more about this guy than we do so he is more capable of making the right decision in that spot. There's much more to his job than we see and I think personally I'm going to get off his back for the time being. We'll see how he manages the next few games.

Geez,
What sort of "data" do you suppose Mac uses? Raul and Richie brought wine and were good dinner guest at his house? Character traits? They either produce consistently or they don't. Just like any other job, if one's not doing their job to a reasonable level, there comes a time in which changes need to occurr. C'mon, don't rot Big Ben on the bench simply because Richie had one good game, and same goes for AJ and Ibanez's recent "surge."

Rabble Rabble
As far as not using statiscal data and analysis i hope if he doesnt someone who he talks to frequently does, and is in the dugout should he want that info. It would seem like a real waste of a resource to not use avalible statitics.

That move with Parrish...
He was also taken out before he could cause more damage. Although I believe that Parrish shouldn't be on the team if you are going to use him for more that mop up use that was the perfect time for it.

He caused the damage that tied the game

It was a horrible choice
More damage? He left the game with runners on second and third and 1 out. Nearly a run and a half is scored on average in that situation. To me, that's a lot of damage.

Only a little jokingly
I don't think it was the worst decision to bring him in, but a leadoff walk? If I'm McLaren, I'm cutting him for that.
On the other hand, the Leveage Index for the situation was 1.38. The game mean LI was 1.24. Median 1.08, so maybe I'm full of crap.
It's better than some situations they put (bad-control) Morrow in for earlier this season, though.
