Is this getting old yet?

Adam Jones just went deep for the SECOND time today, bringing his 6th inning line to 2/3, 2HR, 4RBI.

So my question is: What is the best we could get in a trade for Ibanez and/or Vidro?

IMO the sooner we trade one of those guys for anything, we will be a better club because we'll have Jones out there...
I'm hoping to get young guys who are potential contributors down the road back in return for either of Vidro or Raul.

What say you guys?

Yes, it's old
but it's a lot less irritating than the daily Chris Snelling update that was going on earlier this year.

Getting someone to take all or most
of Vidro's salary is enough in return for a trade.

Nope
The longer he keeps doing well, the more prep'd he is and the higher his trade value.

So long as those two keep improving in our favour then it's good to know.

What is not cool is the club trading him for a carthorse. We hope to high heaven this is not going to be the case.

what if
we moved ibanez and vidro, DHed guillen and had an OF of jones/ichiro/WLAD

by mariners124m on Jul 8, 2007 4:34 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

then the M's
wouldn't make the playoffs.

Thats extreme
Jose Guillen is doing pretty well and is not that bad in RF. WLAD is not ready yet. Ibanez is not going anywhere.

Also, no point in talking about trading for Jose Vidro. No GM is accepting Vidro unless he comes attached to a night with Angelina Jolie. If he's out of the lineup, its going to be because he is sitting on the bench.

Jose Guillen is bad in RF.
He has zero range right now.

Right direction, wrong idea
move Vidro and Guillen and DH Ibanez.

If the Ms did what you propose than Ichiro would be the only LH bat in the lineup.

There is a piece of me that wonders
who the better hitter is...Guillen or Ibanez?  The only advantage I really see is that Ibanez is a LHB.  The Guillen pickup was really a solid move and I've really been happy with it.

in a complete vacuum?
well, I'd still say Ibanez, but it would be closer. In SafeCo, for this team, Ibanez is far more valuable.

Watch our offense drop dead in Safeco
Dave Cameron isn't just blowing smoke when he says the lineup needs LHB's.  Flyballs and line drives from RHB's die in midair in Safeco.

In addition to going 3-4
with two HR's and a double today, Mr. Jones also misplayed a ball in center for an inside-the-park home run for the light-hitting Mike Sansoe (.235, OHR, 13RBI).  Not that that should stop him from being promoted, it's just funny.

What's the best we could get?
Well, probably what we got in the Moyer trade- barely useful prospects.

And that's if a team has a major brain fart and MAKES that trade.

Realistically, what Dave Cameron's suggested on USSM makes sense- platoon Sexson/Broussard/IbaƱez/Guillen/Vidro in the 1B/RF/DH spots, call up Jones and call it good.

Hard to imagine that Vidro and Ibanez...
... have any trade value whatsoever. Age + expense = Mariner4ever!
rightly, in every age it is assumed we are witnessing the disappearance of the last traces of paradise... Cioran

I had a dream
that we traded Jones to Baltimore for a PTBNL.
No, sir, they're saying Boo-vasi.
