7/24 Minor League Wrap-Up

Between my blog going kaput for several hours via San Francisco power outage and the Mariners gagging up two games to the Rangers while continuing to bat Washed Up Black Holes of London 3rd, I'm so bent that I'm gonna post line scores whether or not they are UP TO THE MINUTE, for you faithful readers since you've been deprived of useful benchmarks for the last couple days.  Today can bite me.

Also, recaps will be reduced to haiku form.

Star-divide

VENEZUELA~!  The VSLM's had the day off.  The lowly DSL Devil Rays/Reds will be their opponent tomorrow.

Nick Allen:  2.1 IP, also annihilated
Steve Uhlmansiek:  2 IP, 2 H, 2 K, somehow not annihilated (perhaps the Jethawks got tired)

Keep it up.  You have a future in poetry
Every time Ibanez is in the lineup, God kills a mariners fan

I put Spo Indians Aqua Sox on my outlook then after getting ready I grabed the tickets and I don't go until tonight.

Doubles power!
It's a start, even if it is High Desert!

by Gomez on Jul 25, 2007 10:13 AM PDT up reply actions

He's an exciting player to follow
Doesn't even turn 18 until next year. Hopefully, he can avoid any further injuries and finish out High-A on a good note since the Mariners are going to promote him to Double-A next season regardless of how well he's actually doing.

Another question Gomez, are the prospects for Lancaster actually good or is at a byproduct of the park? Checking out the park factors Lancaster is even more of a hitter's park than High Desert.

by nfreakct on Jul 25, 2007 11:03 AM PDT up reply actions

Oh, the park certainly helps
though that belies the fact that most of the Cal League is a hitters haven, and the Red Sox have some pretty good high A hitting talent, whether or not any of them have a serious future.

the kid is 17
His power will develop with age.  I'm impressed at his batting average moreover, though he isn't walking much. Is that a sample size, or did he have a low walk rate in low A as well

by mariners124m on Jul 25, 2007 2:47 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah
BABIP's in the .350s-.360s... LD rate's around 14-16% in both leagues... and only 23 Ks in 157 MWL ABs with only 8 in 68 Cal League ABs.

He isn't walking much but he is making a lot of contact and he is not an easy guy to K.  Trui looks more and more like a guy who will put more balls in play than the average hitter.

in other words
FUTURE MARINER IN THE NOW!!!

Harold Williams?  Really?
