You know, stealing is wrong
Can we still steal from the RIAA?
the RIAA and the MPAA
The RIAA for their strongarm law tactics and their idiocy
The MPAA for their rating system among other things.

Silly turd!
Besides, software is exceedingly pricey as it is.
Ding ding ding!
Yeah
I don't think anyone here is advocating pirating cheap apps, as much as the exorbitantly priced mainstream apps the conglomerates make.
Not that I advocate pirating in general... it's just that the scope and damage is not as black and white as the programmers side believe.
What is the difference? Morally, technically nothing. Fiscally, it's a lot less damaging to Adobe and Microsoft than it is to Markus Heinsohn.
100% agree
I've always paid for my software
If piracy happens, you don't get money from those who took it, but if you take a hard line and it doesn't... you're probably still not getting any money from those who would've pirated. You create a demand for piracy by pricing a product out of people's comfortable spending ranges.
I agree, too!
Yes, it is
Say what you will about the evils of big corporations, but Photoshop is an incredibly complex program that's taken years to develop, and is targeted to professional graphics workers and photographers - which is why it's priced as it is.
If you don't want to pay $700 for Photoshop, that's cool - pay $100 for Photoshop Elements, which gives the amateur graphics manipulator pretty much all the functionality they would ever possibly need.
If anything, it gives software greater exposure to people who otherwise would not have shown any interest.
And if that person already has a free copy of Photoshop, what's their incentive to go out and buy one? Or encourage their friends to buy one?
I work in software development, and while I can't defend the price of Photoshop, I can understand why they charge it - it's the fruits of a lot of people's labor and a ton of people's time.
I will never understand the rationale that says "it's expensive, so it's OK to steal it because I wouldn't have bought it anyway" - new cars are expensive, too, yet you wouldn't go steal a new car off the lot just because it's more than you're willing to pay for it, would you?
Here's my take on downloading
So I downloaded all that stuff, gained a basic knowledge of the program then turned that into 10 times as many sales as I would have had if I just read off the back of the box. The same went for games.
When I stopped working there I stopped this practice but during my time there it felt like it was a necessary evil in order to do my job right. Looking back on my tenure at that store I realize that all I needed to be employed there were two legs and 5% brain activity, but that is a different story.
Or, well...

take pity on the gunners
Yeah, I'm pretty upset
The title is probably completely out of reach, but one thing I can say is that I have never been given reason to doubt Arsene Wenger's player evaluation skills, so if he says AFC is good enough, I trust him.
For the record
Whats really bad
EA
I also got caught downloading Halo 2 PC
Heh, all the EA games I have, I've actually bought
It's actually been a long time since I downloaded a game. Hell...now that I think about it, it's been a while since I downloaded anything really...no wait, I downloaded the latest Die Hard movie, but then ended up seeing it in theaters anyways right after me and some friends saw Transformers in theaters.
Most of things I download these days are music and small programs like Nero(though I have a legal older version of that laying around here somewhere...)
I assume this was a couple years ago?
