There weren't any
I can't wait until he does get called up..I'm giving props to the post with the least fanfare.
ie "Side note, RRS sent down"
and inside it says ADAM FU#*(*D JONES IS UP!)
Sorry, guys
If we were called up or traded, you would have known it in the title.
Figured as much
At this point
I don't know about you
You just know...
You are that guy
Jeremy Reed says hello.
I want Adam Jones to be a great ballplayer. I just get a little crazy at the amount of expectation heaped on the guy. He's not going to be called up and single-handedly change the M's fortunes.
We're only expecting AJ to be decent,
Exactly my point.
Adam Jones may turn out to be the next great hitter, or he may turn out to be Jeremy Reed. Nobody knows.
That said, he definitely deserves the chance to show which one he is; I just like to play down the hype.
Understandable
CQ
There's no doubt in my mind that idiot Seitzer
Jeremy Reed wasn't destroying AAA.
.777 in Charlotte in 2004
.821 in Tacoma in 2004
.776 in Tacoma in 2007
Basically, Reed stopped developing as a hitter after his monster 2003 in AA.
Reed's a crappy comp for Jones, who is KILLING pitching at a higher level and showing far more power than Reed ever did. Please also note that Jones is not yet 22. Reed was 23 in 2004.
Finally, a lot of reason kids "can't crack the bigs" is that teams overvalue veteran hitting and will tolerate slumps from "proven" hitters and not from AAA rookies, even though they've "proven" a certain level of hitting ability themselves- or they have injury problems. Basically, this is the story of Ken Phelps, Bucky Jacobsen, Mike Easler, and a number of hitters who were trapped in AAA as "AAA hitters". Minor league stats DO project performance, when used in conjunction with scouting.

I'm not sure that applies to Q...
That sure doesn't help!
Also suffering from a new afliction known as
Alot of us are beginning to think that the "Baby Backs" were vastly overrated due to the parks they played in through their entire minor league careers. Quentin,Drew,Jackson,Snyder,Montero, and to some extent Young, are all suffering from it.
It's one of these reasons the D-Backs have been getting the hell out of these places over the last few years.
Jones
sheesh.

The hype
I hope he is amazing. But I am not expecting miracles from him like some people appear to be.
I have yet to see anybody, anywhere at LL
My bar is set a bit higher
Everyone
I'd rather have him in the box right now swinging than Ibanez. And his defense and arm are undoubtedly an upgrade. Thats what we are looking for
Nick Green
.322 14 HR 39 RBIs
Threaten Yuni or something
Isn't he 30 years old or something?
Can't take a walk to save his life
Mind you...
Can't take a walk to save his life?
I know
As scary as it is,
I just made myself sad.
In all fairness
He hasn't been called up yet

Finally made it in.
On another note, Big Richie isn't coming back, is he?
