Newbie ticket question

We're hoping to catch a game in August -- probably one of the games in the White Sox series -- and I'm wondering what's the best way to get tickets. I was looking at Ticketmaster just now, and the fees are ridiculous -- convenience fee, delivery fee, facility fee, on and on with "ripoff" written all over it. So I turn to you, my more seasoned colleagues: what's the smartest option? I'd rather not leave the ticket purchase to game day, and I don't want to overpay in the interest of convenience. So how should I go about buying the tickets?

Thanks.

This city is slow
They won't know we are good by then, so it really shouldn't be a problem. Craigs list is the only way that I can think of this far in advance.

Official site
redirects to Ticketbastard.  If you're dead-set on a certain seat or area, I'd buy in advance, but if you're just willing to show up and get tickets on the day, just buy them at the box office a couple hours before the game and save all the fees.

Ticketmaster, ugh
I just ordered a $32 ticket to a game in Cleveland for my dad and they charged nearly $10 dollars in fees. That's ridiculous, and I'm pretty sure they would have charged that much for every single ticket if I got more than one.

Check out the Mariner Ticket Market on the official site. It's where season ticket holders re-sell their seats. Select a game and then sort by the number of tickets you need. Look through the list carefully to see what the best value is (make sure you have a separate window open with the seating chart), keeping in mind that the price doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the seats. You might be able get a good deal there. If you don't, check back every so often as more tickets will likely be added as the game approaches.

Ya it's done through Ticketmaster, but if you search and get lucky you can find good tix.

I went to a game this year and used it.  I got a great Lower Box seat for less than face value.  It was bueno.

I bought tix for the Sox series recently
If you are going on Friday, it's Raul bobblehead night (go figure) and a lot of tickets had already been sold. If you are eye-ing that day, I would buy sooner rather than later.
