"Mariners designated LHP Jake Woods for assignment.

"The Mariners could have just optioned him down again. Instead, it looks like he'll go on waivers, which is how Seattle got him from the Angels prior to the 2006 season. Odds are that someone will grab him. He's been quite a disappointment this year, but he's a viable living, breathing left-hander."

If Almounte is in Tacoma before 2010

I will go to a game wearing nothing. There is 0% chance of that ever happening this year. A Mike Socsia, Jose Guillen love child is a million times more likely. Every pitcher in the organization/world would have to develop a nasty case of herpes first. There are enough ways of saying how unlikely this is from happening.

The visa process is long and painful. The wait for a passport alone right now is over six months due to the backlog. I'd imagine there's a similar backlog for foreign visas.

I don't know, I don't think he's good or anything, but I kinda grew attached to Jake over the past 2 seasons.

I had a soft spot for Jake Woods

He was the hot hand for last year. He should've replaced Joel Pineiro. That hand has since run cold but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

He's off the 25 man for Ho-Ram

What he's off the 40 man for is an entirely different mystery. Tomo Ohka definately makes some sense, or they could do something wonky like add Jeff Clement, though "why" is a good question. Also an outside shot they want to add Kam Mickolio to the 40 man for later call ups.

They do have Cesar Jiminez and Mark Lowe on the 60 day, and maybe they're ready to come off.

Can we please DFA Rene Rivera, too?
