So far, the M's have taken one more toolsy OF and four college pitchers.
The pitchers are an intriguing lot. One of them, West Point's Nick Hill (Fett - how about a scouting report?) has great stats. Lotsa Ks, and very few BBs.
The others are more out of the Orta/Gallagher mold. SDSU's Donnie Hume missed most of the year with shoulder soreness (awesome!), and Houston's Aaron Brown has just been sort of mediocre.
The M's then drafted Franklin Pierce's Keith Renaud as a pitcher. This fits with Fontaine's love of guys who've developed outside of the sunbelt baseball hotbeds of Fla,Tex, Cal, but...let's just say Ari Kafka and Brian Sabatella didn't light the world on fire.
Any thoughts? Is it always an overdraft to pick up a guy with a bum shoulder in the first 10 rounds, or is that the only way to get Nick Adenhart-level sleepers (I know adenhart had a problem with his elbow, not shoulder, but you get the point).
Finally, here's Nick Hill's college stats - it's something that should give M's fans a bit of hope (.pdf).
