English Mariner

Hey, has anyone heard anything from English Mariner since the night he was attending the game at Safeco?

I remember there being a diary with him discussing leaving to go to the ballpark (from his hotel across the street), but then nobody ever saw him at the game, or heard from him in the following days.

Is he back, and I just haven't seen him post anything? Or is this still an ongoing mystery?

We were discussing that at the game last night

Bretticus has guessed that he died. I would hope not, though given the sudden, complete disappearance without explanation, I can see it.

One would think, however, that even in our jaded times, that a murder or something, or even reports of a missing Englishman in Seattle (witness the drama two weeks ago with that one guy in Issaquah), would've ended up on the news.

I would sure think so.

As I understood it, he was literally staying across the street from Safeco. You'd think that any foul play right before game time would be noticed in that area, unless he was gullible enough to wander off into an alley with somebody sinister or something.

Hi ho...

Hi guys and girls. A member of my baseball team told me that you guys were asking about me! I'm genuinely very touched that you have shown such concern. When I was in Seattle I got ill after a meal in the Fox Cafe in town so my holiday went slightly downhill after that. However I still had a great time and I loved your City and of course the M's! I hope to be over again next year, so hopefully the LL meetups are still happening then and I can finally join in!

In theory, he posted a link to his baseball team in England, didn't he? Maybe we could contact them and see if they know anything, just for peace of mind.

When I get home from work later, I'll try to remember to write them an email explaining the situation and asking. (It wouldn't hurt for a few of us to write, though.) Hopefully it was just a silly mixup rather than something bad.

My Theory.

English Mariner was indeed at the first game. Saw the group, and what a mishmash of funny-lookin' yanks we all were, and decided to abandon the thought of sitting with a bunch of freaks, lest we get some VORP or somethin' on him...

Or he decided to one-up us all, and morph into Red...

Since there's no "u" in "retire" this'll have to do: Retiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire.

I'd hope that's what he did, because it'd mean that he's not dead or otherwise injured.

Also, I treat my VORP with Intangibrex, so the chances of infection are low.

to pop up -- I'm still alive... for a number of personal reasons I had to pretty much stop blogging for a while. I felt bad about disappearing and never came back to say I was okay -- didn't know y'all would miss me :-) Or maybe you didn't...

Hmmmmm

I'm fairly certain he was beaten to death and eaten by a rabid Sasquatch. It is the Pacific Northwest for crying out loud! It's the only theory that makes sense in my opinion, unless sucked through a time warp in the mens room at Safeco Field.
