I'm just sad we didn't get to see Pineiro pitch when I was actually at the game yesterday.

Man.
So I have a friend coming to town for the weekend, she was getting in at like 4pm today.  This morning I said "be careful, there's a Mariners game starting at 1:35pm".

She's like, "Well, it'll be over by 4, won't it?"

I replied, "Probably, but with these guys you can never tell.  It could go until 6pm for all I know, last night's was a marathon too."

I should never say these things.

Deep ball hit to left center
Manny made a comical leap for it at the wall, but missed by quite a bit.  The ball bounced off the wall and back toward the infield.  By the time Crisp fielded it, it was far too late as Ichiro was flying around third and scored.

by ningwers on Jun 27, 2007 5:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Jose hit a monster line drive
that ended up hitting the wall 8 inches in front of manny's glove.

Lopez = Miguel Tejada
in terms of pythag-o-matt PRCA-alpha runs

/DOV

by Matthew on Jun 27, 2007 6:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Lopez may very well become Tejada.
I mean let's be honest here.  Tejada will not make the hall of fame.  Tejada will be an above average, top ten SS of our generation, but he is not a HOFer.  Tejada will be a .300/.350/.490 guy over his career.  Lopez has had greater success than Tejada in the bigs at a younger age in an equally tough ballpark.  Lopez could end up being a .315/.350/.490 guy over his career.  People seem to think comparing him to Tejada is comparing him to someone otherworldy.  Comparing him to Tejada is legit, because Tejada's very good, but not spectacular.

Protect the enviroment, or I'll FUCKING KILL YOU! CAPTAAAAAIIIINNNN PLANNNNET! ~Ted Turner

by Goose on Jun 27, 2007 7:59 PM PDT up reply actions

This is my perspective
He needs a solid SS and Yuni is better than anybody else left.  There is also a really slight premium on mariners in the league because everybody wants to root for their players.  Finally, if he's hurt for a while and only comes back for maybe a month or a month and a half there is no reason to expect him to hit well because that wrist injury could mess him up.  He's also having a subpar season.  I'm trading an average SS for a better SS but there is also a fair amount of risk involved.

I think its in my advantage but i don't think its so obsurd that its like he is trying to dump players or something like that.

by Edgar for Pres on Jun 27, 2007 8:12 PM PDT up reply actions

I won't vote against it
I'll leave it up to the rest.  Tejada's a better player than Yuni but he's also hurt and will be useless for the next 4-5 weeks.

by Gomez on Jun 27, 2007 8:19 PM PDT up reply actions

by MFAN on Jun 27, 2007 7:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Rotoworld is crying
screwjob.

Theyve been whining about the umps the entire series.

I missed this game, so were the complaints legit?

(complaints were Ichiro not striking out on a check swing, Ortiz not getting ball 4 with the bases juiced)...

BOSTONS CURSED WAHHHH BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

by Slica on Jun 27, 2007 7:47 PM PDT reply actions

The umpire was calling a wide zone
for both sides.  It's completely unmerited, as he screwed both teams today.  He was consistently calling pitches three inches off the plate for strikes, and consistently calling low pitches in the zone balls.  It was bad, but at least consistent.

by BrettJMiller on Jun 27, 2007 7:51 PM PDT up reply actions

To be fair, Rotoworld isn't biased. Just yesterday
they were roasting the Red Sox for their crappy bullpen usage. they pretty much roast everybody.

by Goose on Jun 27, 2007 7:57 PM PDT up reply actions

I never thought of them as biased
Until I read their comments during this series.

I guess I just take offense to anyone getting mad over a Seattle team getting calls. If there is one fucking city that should be getting good calls for once, its Seattle.

by Slica on Jun 27, 2007 8:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Taking the series as a whole
I actually felt like the bias was FOR the red sox.  Even in todays game Dice-K's zone was MUCh bigger than Fierbends, and espeacially the zone for Ortiz's AB in the early part of the game was HUGE.

Oh well whatever
