Low Impact Rosterbation

Why isn't Carlos Silva coming up more in possible trade rumors. He started the year in the bullpen in Philadelphia and played the whole year in 2002, so I have to assume he's closing in on 6 years of major league service time. Hardball dollars does not have him with a contract beyond this year. His contract is moderate at 4.33 million. He' a solid pitcher but nothing eye-catching. He lives on one pitch and totally fits in to the organization's establish the fastball and pound the strikezone mantras. This is my official bring Silva to Seattle call. He's low-risk and shouldn't cost much in the way of prospects, and can be an adequate replacement for the middle of the rotation

Minnesota, not Philadelphia
and he sucks nuts. He isn't really an improvement on what the team currently has.

I imagine he means
Philadelphia in 2002.

Thats a little harsh
Career 102 OPS+, doesn't walk anyone, moderate groundball tendencies. sub 4.00 ERA this year. Average innings eater who I believe to be under-valued is what I would call him

Terry Ryan
is one of the worst people to do business with in baseball. With Silva's shiny ERA, Terry Ryan would probably demand Adam Jones and a PTBNL. This is not sarcasm, I actually think he would demand this package.

Horacio Ramirez
has a career ERA+ of 100.

Carlos Silva
isn't coming off an injury shortened season. and has 300 more innings of sample size

Point is
why acquire Silva? He might be an upgrade over the back end of our rotation, but it would such a small upgrade that it's not worth giving up any actual talent.

Why has someone not made a joke about this yet?

I can go lower...
how about switching Betancourt with Lopez at short and second? Shorten Betancourt's throws up a little more and see how he does.
