Adam Jones got screwed!

Adam Jones didn't make the US team for the Futures Game.

Star-divide

Michael Saunders & Wladimir Balentien are on the World team, but Jones is not listed on the roster for the US team. The outfield is awesome, but Jones definitely deserved a spot. Here's who made the US team OF instead of Jones...

Jay Bruce
Jacoby Ellsbury
Colby Rasmus
Cameron Maybin
Justin Upton

In my opinion, Ellsbury & Rasmus are overrated. Adam Jones deserves to be on this team.

That's okay.
It'll keep him away from San Francisco and Barry Bonds!

Jones is more than deserving...
It just looks like he was the victim of the "only two players per organization" rule, what with Balentien and Saunders getting placed on the World roster.  Looks like that team was scrambling to pick up OFers, while the US is absolutely stacked, there.

But, if it was based purely on merit, I'm absolutely sure that Jones would have gotten the call.  :)

It's also interesting to note how Jones has been rocketing up the lists of some of the posters on John Sickels' blog.  Consensus top ten, where he was lagging from around the 25 through 35 range at the end of prior minor league season.  Balentien's perception has greatly improved, also...he's hanging around in 35-65 area, and there's a significant amount of buzz around Triunfel already, as well.

With Clement hanging around in the bottom half, and Morrow still getting some token attention, it looks like at least the -perception- of the Mariners farm system is greatly improving on a national level...

Per Churchill
Jones was invited, but turned it down.  He obviously is planning on being with the big-league club come July.

A big hint to M's management...

Aha, that'd explain it.
There's no way he COULDN'T be invited to that.
Felix, you magnificent bastard.

Alright
That makes me feel better.
