New Mariners curse

So, I've discovered a new curse for the Mariners. The "Nathano Curse." He first came here and posted his "Burn the Tree" diary about how we were really a  bad team and how we should go on a "fire sale" and aim for a 100 loss season a day after we won again to make it 5 wins in a row, 3 games from the Angels, 1 game back from the Tigers in the WC. Our record since then? 0-4, falling one game farther back of the Tigers and three farther back of the Angels. I've told Jeff to delete the diary but I don't know why he won't. Anyways thanks Nathano.

Yeah, right
that's why I actually want the Mariners to win and I even suggested trading prospects to win. You're right Corco! How'd you figure it out.

I've been up and down all year...
I cheer for the M's to win every game, but in the back of my head I'm hoping for a little prolonged losing streak to get Hargrove and Bavasi the boot, because I think that the organization has no future with those two in charge, and also think the team would be better off THIS season if they were gone, even if they have to lose a couple to sacrifice.  I believe they're not being here will gain more.

So it's tough.  But I know my hearts in the right place as I watch every game and hoot and holler every time something goes right.  But it's still in the back of my mind.

by SethGrandpa on Jun 16, 2007 8:21 PM PDT   0 recs

As long as Bavasi
doesn't trade any of our non-expendable future stars like Felix, Jones or Trunifel I really don't care if they don't leave if it means winning and getting back to the playoffs.

Well see that's the thing...
You have the "as long as Bavasi doesn't..." which he'll usually do.  And he may not make the bad moves now, but that doesn't mean if he won't next year or the year after that.  Basically I don't feel comfortable with him in charge of the future of this team.  That's why I wouldn't hate a losing streak to get him out.

No Worries...
Nathanho's a good friend of mine, and I've got a picture of him with pins through his visage and soaking in chicken blood as we speak...

What are you saying...
...specifically?  Or, are you just making a generalization based on a fear-mongering, lynch-mob mentality?

So, it's 'shoot the messenger' at LL?  I'm just preparing the way for the cleansing fire...

Yeah see,
that's the problem. You come in here one day after the Mariners had won five in a row and say how we should get rid of the all of our people who our players who are actually helping us. Personally, actually, I think I speak for all of us here at LL when I ask why are you doing this?

Actually
I'm pretty sure no one here wants you to ever speak for them.  I might be wrong, I really doubt it though.

Why are YOU...

I simply have no way to respond to that...

Wouldn't "new Mariners curse"
imply the existence of an old Mariners curse?

by Jeff on Jun 16, 2007 11:18 PM PDT   0 recs

Well
there was that albatross that was hung around Edgar Martinez's knee.

Yep,
there was the "Curse of Mike Cameron" where we didn't have a all-star center fielder until this year.

in 1977 and hasn't ended yet.
No, sir, they're saying Boo-vasi.

by Mariner John on Jun 17, 2007 3:00 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Its simply reality....
The M's are going to struggle at times, and put together some nice weeks as well...They're not good enough to compete for the playoffs.  I love to see them win, but really wish ownership would can the gm and move on.....

by tmoney96 on Jun 16, 2007 11:53 PM PDT   0 recs

But what's the chance
that they would be on 5 game winning streak and then the day someone posts a diary here that says they're not going to keep up the winning, they start a 4 game losing streak? You guys don't believe me? Fine watch as Jeff doesn't delete the diary and the Mariners lose the next 97 games.

The changes to the SAT
Means that my little brother has a higher score than me. That's not cool.

by Graham on Jun 17, 2007 6:51 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

It's easy
You just say "I got X out of 1600" and then they know it's not one of the crazy / 2400 scores.
In addition to going 18-for-18 in save opportunities, Putz is trying to bring a sense of unity and joyfulness in the Seattle clubhouse.

by appleshampoo on Jun 17, 2007 10:10 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

The new SAT scoring is like the save statistic
Bleh.

The scoring for the writing section is so arbitrary and defeats the purpose of the SAT... not that its usefulness as an ability separator isn't circling the drain anyway.  When you can go to Kaplan or Princeton Review and learn how to get a 1350 on the SAT, it kidan defeats the purpose of the SAT.

But then again, it's just a symptom of a bigger problem with so many kids padding 'resumes' and working around college admissions filters.  It's all a joke at this point.

(I got a 1370 way back when.  I didn't study at all for it.)

The Master of Everything Obvious...
...is back.

All you seem to want to do is "cut" this guy, "can" that guy, "fire the GM", and dramatically churn the roster, without once offering a single suggestion as to how you would see fit to replace all these wayside corpses.  I hate to invite rosterbation, but can you offer any clarity as to how you would actually plug these holes?...

the real curse
is my away message.  mentioned the mariners twice this year, both have come after big winning streaks.  the result?  an immediate and prolonged losing streak.  good times.

Follow my logic
Sens get eliminated, Mariners win 5 in a row then lose 5. Jeff's level of sadness is directly correlational to the Mariners success. Suffer  some more  personal heartbreak you selfish jerk.
