I warned you.

But would Jeff believe me? Nooooooooo. Read it and weep, guys.

Although the Mariners wanted him to go down to the minor leagues for a couple of starts on an injury rehabilitation assignment, Jeff Weaver has decided not to do so.

He will throw one more bullpen session Thursday in Seattle, then throw a simulated game Sunday at Safeco Field. After that, if Weaver's right shoulder is healthy, he will be moved back into the starting rotation.

That will probably mean rookie left-hander Ryan Feierabend will be sent back to the minor leagues. Feierabend, who pitched well enough in Tuesday's loss, will make one more start on Sunday at Safeco against Texas.

The rehab start would have given Weaver more work against real competition. But as a veteran, he has the right to refuse.

Weaver, who was 0-6 with a 14.32 ERA before going on the disabled list, probably will start June 9 at San Diego and June 14 against the Cubs in Chicago.

That's a good schedule for Weaver. He was booed in a couple of his starts in Seattle. If he can show improvement in those two starts, Seattle fans will probably be a little more forgiving when he pitches again in Seattle, probably June 20.

I suggest that the LL theme night in San Diego for June might be T-Shirts saying "FUCK REEFER JAW".
