Insert Punchline Here:
Vidro, on reacting to the recent changes in baseball teams' alcohol policies, from ESPN's article:

"To be honest, I think it's us as human beings who should decide what is good and bad for us. When and where to [drink]. We should police ourselves," said Mariners designated hitter Jose Vidro, a veteran of 11 seasons in the major leagues.
Vidro said he and fellow Mariners were saddened by Hancock's death.
"Man, we've got such a beautiful life. We've got such a beautiful job," said Vidro, who is earning $7.5 million this season.

Eh
He is right, to a point.
But saying that, baseball, like any other big organization, wants to minimize the black eye it gets from the small proportion of people who can't police themselves.
To protect from the stupid, all must be limited.
That wasn't the funny part
Yes you do, Vidro. Just please don't remind us of that fact.
Yeah...
It is ironic though in a way. He is commenting on someone throwing it away by driving drunk. What about throwing away some of the talent he has by being overweight? If he truly cherished what he was doing he would be on that elliptical for an hour a day and hitting the salad bar at the local buffett rather than the dessert bar.
They also quoted him out of context
