It's really remarkable that this team is .500
I imagine that would have to be a historically bad trio of starters if they were allowed to pitch like that all season.
it gives a bit hope
given that we have about 2 decent starters
given that our dh hits only singles
given all the hackouts
and that stats tend to relax to their averages
that this team is perhaps better than .500 ballclub.
of course i have no hope that the organization will do anything to change the starting pitching situation, so maybe we are doomed to .500

Felix Update
Its solely because he did it with a 102 fever. Yes, a 20 year old still showed up with a 102 fever. I love this kid.
Hes on schedule to start Tuesday it appears.
I have
Conviction
"I'd rather throw the wrong pitch, but a pitch I throw with conviction. That makes it right."
I came across a similar Horacio quote from his Atlanta Braves days:
"I'm just throwing with a lot more confidence. Before, I just kind of threw the pitch, but not with the conviction that I should have been."
I wonder what's with this guy and his devotion to conviction. It's sort of honorable, but I do wish that it would translate into a halfway decent ERA.
does that make ho

The good news?
I probably don't need to tell you the bad news.
I wish Hargrove was our Gm evaluating talent
"He's blessed that he has a tremendous amount of talent, but cursed in that he plays many positions well, which leads to him be a utility or role player."
From that same article:
One can only hope they're just saying that for PR reasons...

Beltre Fielding
Often when he collects the ball in his mit and transfers it to his throwing hand he'll look down almost as if to check that it's still there. Is he picking a grip on the ball, or just showboating??
(PS - Betancourt is awesome)
He's probably picking a grip

there really isn't any defense i can think of that has golden gloves at ss and 3b.
and jose is really good too. one game in particular where we had some brilliant defense (i think it was trying to save the no hitter game)

Totally sweet
Whew
Brad Thomas made his first start for Tacoma, pitching four scoreless innings before allowing two runs in the fifth.
Thomas was filling in for Ryan Feierabend, who felt some tightness the day after his last outing. The club decided to give Feierabend a couple of extra days, and he will start on Tuesday in Jim Parque’s slot. Parque is troubled by blisters on his pitching hand.
Short hops
Left-handed reliever Jaime Cerda joined the club Saturday. Cerda, who has pitched in 132 major league games with the Royals and Mets, was released by the Mariners in spring training. He signed with the independent New Jersey Jackals but was re-signed by Seattle on Friday.
trade is for PTBNL
"Davis conceivably could replace Julio Mateo in the Seattle bullpen."

Man Boston sure is running away with that
Also, I think this recent 13 game stretch against Chicago,Boston,New York, and Detroit had the very real possibility of sinking us. A small part of me was almost expecting them to tank, something like 4-9 or whatever.Especially with no Felix.
But they didn't. Not only did they not tank, but they came out with a winning record in that stretch(7-6).
For the first time in 4 years, I honestly think that my god, we might have just have a chance in this thing.
