I'll be at the game tonight!
Geez, this will also be my third Washburn start already.
Given how little Felix there's been

I like Washburn just fine
I think it's part of having a 16-game plan -- somehow, the fact that you get every 4th or 5th game means you can end up with a lot of the same pitchers. I saw Bobby Madritsch something like 4 games in a row in September 2004, and at one point in 2005 got a long string of Jamie Moyer starts, too. Fortunately, I usually go to enough games in-between; I just haven't been this year because I've been too busy.
BUT, I think that the next three games on my plan are also Washburn (tonight), Baek (next Wednesday), Felix (next Sunday). And I'll probably go see Felix on Tuesday, if I can get anyone else to go.
While I'm at it,
Sigh
Chris Young is just neat because he's SO GODDAMN TALL.
I still have never actually seen a Scott Kazmir start in person, despite that I've been trying to for a while now. That also bugs me.
Haven't seen Peavy in person?

Problem with San Diego
I tend to take trips to MLB cities, but with other actual reasons for the trips, such as weddings or parties or whatever, and then go to a game while I'm there. Or in one case, I went to a wedding which was AT a baseball game. But still.
I'm sure there's people who'd agree

Just got back from the team store. Bought my game cap and a Hernandez top for 95 bucks. What's the deal with the 220 dollar top?! I can't afford that even with the uber-strong pound!
Also, your city is really nice. Did some shopping today in the city centre and I was very impressed. I guess the city looks a lot nicer when it is sunny [just like my hometown does] so I am glad my first exposure to it was today and not tomorrow [forcast is poor].
PS Silver Cloud Stadium hotel is really cool - and my view is totally awesome - right over the 'Left Field' side of the ground. I can see the players on the field warming up right now!

"The only thing I look back on about it -- and hindsight would be a great thing to have on the field -- is not knowing where the ball was," Phelps said Friday, just before he faced Seattle starter Jarrod Washburn again. "I was running as fast as I could and didn't take the time to see the ball."
Phelps said he has no problem that Washburn reacted Sunday at Yankee Stadium by hitting him in the back with a pitch. That led to Proctor throwing a pitch behind Yuniesky Betancourt. Proctor and Torre were then ejected from the game.
Proctor was suspended four games, a penalty he is appealing, and was fined $1,500. Torre got a one-game suspension.
As Phelps explained himself Friday, he stressed that he did not want to make the rematch with Washburn "an issue between two teams" this weekend.
"I don't blame him. I would expect someone to step up for his player," Phelps said of Washburn. "I got hit and jogged to first base. No big deal. That's part of the game. It was understood."
Washburn's retaliation came after Phelps had bowled over Johjima well in front of home plate as he scored on a short outfield throw from usually accurate Gold Glover Ichiro Suzuki.
"I knew who the ball was hit to ... I expected Ichiro to hit (Johjima) in the chest with that throw," Phelps said. "And I know I'm not the fastest player on our team. I had committed myself to the (collision). And actually, my body's lower half was still over the plate."
Phelps said the play was just his second collision at home plate in his 12 seasons in the major and minor leagues.
"I didn't have an air brake," he said.
from Pinstripe Alley:
that a 4 pitch walk and an inside pitch to a pull hitter is not a winning combination.
We've also learned that swinging at the first pitch often leads to outs."

My record is now 5-1
A-Rod's really awesome. He's kicking ass and wearing the high socks and playing third base and that pretty much means he gets amnesty for anything else he may or may not have done recently, such as wear a uniform top that says "New York" on it.
I booed Bobby Abreu, just for the record. Nobody else.
I was all sad they didn't put Dougie Baseball in for the whole game, but at least I got to see him at the end!
And, WASHBURNINATING THE YANKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
J-ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD
Just curious
Because I frequently was shouting "Yan-kees Su-uck" and "Fuck the Yan-kees" as much as possible.
Although, to be honest, it's a lot more fun to come to games when there are more that 47 people there. But when we beat the Yankees, it's awesome.
by appleshampoo on May 11, 2007 11:12 PM PDT up reply actions
I dunno
I'd rather be at a game of 45,000 Mariners fans than of 18,000 Mariners fans and 16,000 Yankees fans and 11,000 people who are just there for the beer and were dragged along by one side or the other.
(though, yes, to be fair, of 45,000 Mariners fans, chances are that 40,000 think Willie Bloomquist is the best player ever, but that's okay.)
