Doubleheader Postponed

Via Indians.com:

CLEVELAND -- Burned once by the snow, the Indians and Mariners aren't going to press their luck again Saturday.

Both games of a hastily scheduled day-night doubleheader at Jacobs Field have been snowed-out, the club announced Saturday morning. A traditional doubleheader will be played in its place Sunday, beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET. Gates will open at noon.

This is absurd.

Not sure on the possibility
But if they manage to get the Doubleheader in on Sunday, would they also try for a Doubleheader on Monday to get all the games in?

I hope not or I hope it is against MLB rules because that would lay waste to both pitching staffs.

Absurdity is the rule of the day!

Thats what I thought
But I have already seen stupidity trump common sense in playing the game yesterday.

That's true.
Man, when it comes to Cleveland, Drew Carey has no idea what he's talking about.

I still place my bets on a doubleheader in Seattle
The two teams split the concession from the makeup game. Similar to what the team did in 2004 with the Royals.

Heh.
There was no revenue in 2004.

Cleveland will bitch
If they don't get home games when they're in a tight race.

I think he meant
Cleveland is full of rocks, not Cleveland Rocks.

WEAK!
Real men would play a triple-header on Sunday. Nine consecutive hours of pure, baseball action! Almost makes you wish we still had Ryan Franklin's rubber arm. Not the rest of him, just the arm.

God
I hate poor planning like this.

damn
now I'm going to be bored all day. 3 days without baseball? This freakin' blows. I hate April.

Agreed
I guess I'll watch the Mets and college hockey championship.

Yeah,
get rid of Selig already, he's over 70 years old for crying out loud!

Aside to what has happened to the financial state
of the game, I think that Selig has done a decent job as commissioner and certainly he had nothing to to do with the schedule. I am more worried about after he leaves when the players and owners both try to take advantage of the new commish.

And not to start anything political, but I have heard that a man in a certain white building in the nations capital has made it known that he would like to run the sport.

God dammit
He's already ruined so much in my life, must he take my greatest passion, too?  :-)

I'm confused about scheduling
Aren't things supposed to be balanced against non-division opponents? We play the Indians 7 times, the White Sox 8 times, the Orioles 9 times and the Yanks 10 times? What the heck is up w. that???

by phil333 on Apr 7, 2007 9:55 AM PDT reply actions

Even better:
2007 schedule:

Oakland Athletics:
6 games vs. New York Yankees
10 games vs. Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Seattle Mariners:
10 games vs. New York Yankees
7 games vs. Tampa Bay Devil Rays

by cynthia2003 on Apr 7, 2007 10:22 AM PDT up reply actions

Is there any logic to this?
Will we play the Devil Rays 10 times next year and the Yanks 7? Maybe this is what happens when you don't let that husband-wife team do the schedules anymore, the team that had been doing it for like 20+ years.

Three games cancelled.
Dumbest thing I've seen in a while.

by ThundaPC on Apr 7, 2007 10:57 AM PDT reply actions

Better them cancelled
Than trying to play in this garbage.

by Graham MacAree on Apr 7, 2007 11:00 AM PDT up reply actions

Yea
That's what I was trying to get at.  Can't wait for this team to get out of Cleveland.

by ThundaPC on Apr 7, 2007 11:15 AM PDT up reply actions

This just in
Gil Meche is losing.  Solo Homerun by Detroit's Gary Sheffield in the first.

by ThundaPC on Apr 7, 2007 11:18 AM PDT reply actions

This is great
I'm getting the entertainment that comes from watching Gil pitch without the horrible knowledge that the Mariners are going to lose as a direct result.

by Graham MacAree on Apr 7, 2007 11:52 AM PDT up reply actions

Mechian ERA
Before: 1.23 ERA

After: 4.72 ERA

The force is working itself back into balance.

Hey Meche!

Your a disappointment to your father

According to Yahoo
We can look forward to a triple header tomorrow. Two of the games will happen at the same time, one with Weaver vs. Carmona, the other with Mateo vs. Carmona.

With
the same guy pitching for the Indians in both games!
Brilliant!

He'll run to one field
throw a pitch, then run to the other and throw a pitch, repeat.  Given our hacktastic lineup, he'll still onyl need to throw 100 pitches in 7 innings.

Glad I didn't miss anything
I betcha we see a dramatic shift in where April home games are scheduled next season.

Or at the least, I betcha that a lone seasonal interdivision series isn't scheduled in April for northern teams in open air stadia.
