Uh huh.

The first inning tonight could take longer than the entire Washburn shutout a few days ago.

Is it just me or is RR getting a hell
of a lot more traffic this season? They're getting game threads in the 600s now too. Clearly this great rivalry has pushed both teams into the forefront of national exposure.

Good thing the national media took a break from our non-stop action to showcase a Yanks-Sox game today. I forget, where do they play?

It is, but they do great stuff over there so
that's not all that unsurprising.

It's good to see the Yanks and Sox
finally getting some exposure. They actually have some pretty good players out there. Did you hear, the Red Sox just got this new pitcher from Japan? His name is Mitsubishi or something.

I hate betting on Meche's fragile psyche..
but our offense just hasn't been that good. We are ripe to be dominated by mediocrity.

funk 'n' pucks
I've been busy lately, having learned just a few days ago that I have to hop a plane to Norfolk tomorrow and stay over there for two months.  Thus, I haven't been privy to many things Mariner recently.

Still, I was sitting here watching the condensed game from last night, and it's all too apparent that the Funk Blast designation is not reserved for Richie Sexson.  That considered, surely not every blast can really be a funk blast, right?  I think if every Mariner blast is indeed a Funk Blast, there has to be a scale of funkiness.  For instance, if Sexson or Beltre reaches the $7 seats in centerfield or hits Royal Brougham, that's a definite 10.  If it's a fly ball that looks like a flyout off the bat but flies over the fence anyway, the Funk Quotient goes down.  Funkiness could also be adjusted for the given situation during the game.

As for the Sens, an Ottawa/Buffalo series would just be out of control.  It'd be the same two teams from the brawl earlier in the season, and every game would end with a score of 5-4 or thereabouts.  Too bad Martin Biron isn't with the Sabres so he can come out and fight Ray Emery again.

And remember, kids, good things happen in overtime when you throw the puck into the net.  If you're Jeff Cowan last night, you throw one onto the net and it squeezes in between J-S Giguere's right skate and the post.  All hail Cowan the Brabarian!  That clip's worth sitting through just to see Willie Mitchell's 63-inch (hockey) stick with the, ahem, debris on it.

last time
I have May and June this time, I had October through March last time I was in Norfolk.  Without looking at extended weather forecasts, I was thinking not-too-hot/humid weather as of yet.  July/August I think would be a different story.  I hate 80 and humidity in Hawaii, so I could imagine how I'd be if that's ramped up 10 or 15 degrees.

According to Hargrove
Morrow is the closer tonight-- Which means he's leapfrogged Moonshot Mateo on the depth chart-- Which also means he's never ever going back to the minors to start.
Obviously, you're not a golfer.

by JI on Apr 28, 2007 5:21 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hargrove
knows the game will be out of hand by then. Better to use Mateo while it's still close. He's virtually guaranteed a couple of innings.

I'm guessing that
if Morrow ever gets switched back to starting, he'll do it in the Majors. Not even the next front office after Bavasi gets fired will have the heart to boot Morrow back to the minors after he spends a year in high-leverage relief.
