Hargrove possibly extended???

I got this from Prospect Insider:

Potential Breaking News?

I've heard from two baseball people today that the Seattle Mariners already have, or are in the midst of extending manager Mike Hargrove's contract through the 2008 season.

Obviously nothing is confirmed and to be honest, I won't be able to confirm this with anyone who'll speak outside of anonymity, but there probably is something to this since the two sources that dropped me a line on it are reliable.

The word is, Grover didn't like the idea that his new bench coach, John McLaren, got a two-year deal and wanted the equivalent of...

Seems he may get it, if it hasn't happened already.

Star-divide

God, please no.

Er...
How about an extended vacation instead? I'm sure the team would give him the next 5.5 months off. PAID!

Yes, this means he will get the axe after the season is over!  Remember Melvin?

The only reason why I could see them doing this
is that by giving Hargrove a little bit more job security, he would make less destructive decisions to win now, ie: Morrow, Having Felix throw 275 innings.

The only downside to this is that it would guarantee  him being around for the entire season.
