Who are these guys?

I have to admit that as an M's fan, I have no idea who Sean White, Sean Green, and Jake Woods are.

I know that they're all back of the bullpen arms, they didn't come through the M's system, and they're all white.

I think Woods is left handed, his first name is Jake, and he has enough endurance to be a starter.

All I know about the other two is that one was a waiver claim from the Braves.

So here's my challenge, in less than 50 words per player, make these guys distinguishable.

P.S. If I have the names wrong and it's Sean Woods, Jake Green, and Shaun White, my bad.

OK
Jake Woods

LHP, Signed as a minopr league free agent out of the Angels system. Decent player, but nothing special, able to be an adequate long reliever or passable 5th starter. Has a really silly tan. Mediocre fastball, pretty good curve, inconsistant control. Safeco helps him out a lot when it comes to homers.

Sean Green

Came over from the Rockies in '04, made his way up the ladder and pitched in our bullpen last year. Not good at striking guys out, not good at not-walking them, but a sinkerball pitcher who induces groundouts like a madman. A typical Green inning goes something like: Groundout, GB 1B, BB, GIDP. Sometimes they string together a bunch of hits and score on him, but enh.

Sean White

Rule 5 draft pick by Pittsburg out of Atlanta, traded to us almost immediately for I have no idea what. Otherwise he's pretty much Green - a sinkerballer with minimal ability to hit the strike zone while missing bats.

One mistake
Jake Woods wasn't a minor league free agent signed by the Mariners but was claimed off waivers by the Mariners from the Angels in December 2005.

This is what happens
When I don't bother looking things up. He does have a silly tan though.

how could you not know jake woods?
only explanation is you are a mariners fan in the sense that you live in seattle and the mariners play baseball there.

dude started 8 games and pitched 100 innings for the m's last year.

I almost want to say that somebody is posting
under Trev's name. Because normally Trev your ALOT more knowledgeable than this. At least you seemed to be from posts that I remember.

Or am I thinking of Devin?

Whatever, give 'im a break
those three are the most forgetable Mariners from last year

by Bearskin Rugburn on Apr 1, 2007 6:55 AM PDT up reply actions

So forgettable
that you forget one of them wasn't a Mariner until a couple months ago.

hey, to be fair
there are plenty of people who go to games semi-regularly, maybe even have 16-game plans, and can't tell you everyone on the roster -- or even most of the roster for that matter.

they don't usually end up on places like LL, but still. I'm just saying. I spent most of last year explaining who Chris Snelling was to most of the people I'd sit near at Safeco.

alternately, this is just an April Fool's joke....

Easy.
Jake Woods: Sucks.

Sean Green: Suckier.

Sean White: Might suck.

Heh thanks guys
I appreciate the compliments. (no sarcasm)

This was 20% April Foolery, 80% why the hell don't I know who these guys are. I couldn't tell Woods/Green apart until Woods entered the rotation (the games they were pitching in I tried not to watch).

Just looking for info that I can't find from browsing a box score and seeing Green 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 K.
